Been shopping for a small displacement bike, couple that have I've been considering are the KTM 390 Duke and Kawasaki Z400. Both naked ~400CC bikes.
Was leaning towards the Kawi after reading some reviews / watching some videos, but then I went to check insurance rates with TD Meloche Monnex...
Not true, I have Aviva vintage insurance on my '77 R60/7 with no other policy. Brokered by Dalton Timmins (now NFP). Unless something has changed in the last three years. Paid around $400 for the year when renewed last June.
This seems like a pretty subtle distinction. Do I have to dispose of the vehicle the newly acquired vehicle (NAV) is replacing first in order for the NAV to be considered a replacement? What if I have it for sale and am planning to replace it but just haven't found a buyer yet?
Yeah, I think that is what I'll end up doing.
Not particularly!
I have imported vehicles (cars) before and was never asked by anyone at the border (US or Canadian) for anything related to insurance IIRC. The only place I had to show it was at the DMV in the state of purchase to get a...
Going back in my memory State Farm charged me about $250/year for a 180cc scooter when I was new to riding; granted that was 8 years ago. When I got my first 'real' bike it was pretty much like starting from scratch, $1200 / year for the first two years for an 865cc then it started dropping down...
I did already, they said I was covered until I pointed out my cars were insured with another company, then they said nope! What a stupid little loophole...
I've been looking into insurance on a bike I am picking up in the US and riding home. Because of the age of the bike I am required to get an appraisal for coverage under the vintage program (much cheaper).
The agent told me I had coverage under my existing policy (with another carrier) for 14...
Re: $35 aes itn
Anyone have any experience importing a pre-1980 bike with a 'short' VIN. I just filed and received my ITN with Simplified Trade Solutions for a 1977 BMR R60/7 I am picking up next week but the email I got back said VERIFY VIN IS TOO SHORT.
I have three photos of the VIN on the...
Re: $35 aes itn
I thought the seller had to complete the ITN request with Simplified Trade Solutions? Under "Written authorization to prepare or transmit electronic export information"
it says "I, the U.S. Principal Party in Interest..."
I don't think the (Canadian) buyer can be the US...
Yeah, unfortunately you are probably right. I own one and love it, but most people who have never ridden one poo poo it without having any idea what it is like.
I also own a V-Strom 650 and have no idea why the Calgary officers think they need the 1000; 650 is plenty powerful for anything they...
I know of at least one University campus police that is using the 4-cyl 2.0L EcoBoost engine Taurus. They don't get involved in a lot of chases...
The 2.0L is 'pursuit rated' by the Michigan State Police and Los Angeles Sheriff's department; 'only' 240 hp...
I thought the Memorial Day weekend was usually the one after? Yep, just confirmed it is May 29th. I'd be up for that, assuming I go (not going to go if weather is a total wash out). Will PM you.
Agreed, I have a similar set of heated glove liners, however I find them pretty uncomfortable (wearing an ICON Patrol waterproof glove over top) and a PITA to put on / take off (hooking/unhooking the wires mainly), so much so I don't bother wearing them most of the time and just rely on heated...
Been working on my trip plan a bit, starting to take shape
Day 1 (assuming I leave work around noon) head straight down the QEW to Fort Erie, take the 219 / 119 as far as they will go and pick up the I70 around New Stanton, PA. Continue on the I70 to Washington, PA or depending on time keep...
Hmm fair enough. I had hoped to avoid freeways completely even if it takes a bit longer. Its hard to tell from Google Maps though if the 'avoid highways' route from Zanesville to West Hickory, PA (western end of 666) is going to be slow and boring or interesting enough to make it worth the extra...
