For what it is worth, i've met many riders who feel that they've outgrown the straight line speed of their bike and upgrade. While sure a 600ss can be used to learn on (and its not recommended), a 250, 400 or 500 sport touring will probably be more forgiving to oh SH** moments and sudden inputs...
