Had a 06 Jetta TDI, with 370,000km, that seemed to eat front bearings when using aftermarket. Went to OEM bearings, no problems since. As Brian mentioned the correct torque procedure must be used. Almost forgot the torque procedure is different depending on which bolt you have, the 12 point...

If you are on a tight budget and don't use a trailer for much else, uhaul rents them for cheap. $20 a day or something like that.

No frame sliders, just the bolt on covers. Some crashes are better then others.

I use the bolt on covers, never had an issue, have held up in tip overs.

R1 and R6 throttle tubes will work, have shorter throws and they are cheap as well. I think it's the 2006 years that work.
