    cast iron cylinder boring

The piston hasnt left San Francisco yet. Other pistons I've received from these guys were spot on spec. So assuming it does measure out to the 41.8mm its spec'd for, is anyone actually familiar with how much larger a bore should be? Thats an AL piston in a cast iron cylinder.

    cast iron cylinder boring

Yes, Bush. Apparently they have work for the next 6 months but mentioned he might be able to squeeze my small request in the next few weeks. So how much larger than the piston should the cylinder be bored?

light machining work - DIY or get it done?

I find it pretty amazing too. Heres a video of a NASCAR crankshaft being machined from a solid cylinder. https://youtu.be/UFNEqY6nn0g

light machining work - DIY or get it done?

Theres no question that machining would give better results but I don’t think everyone is aware what 70’s Italian mopeds are like from the factory. We are talking stamped steel, pronged fork legs and swingarm ends, plastic swingarm bushings (which insert into tubes welded to the shallow, central...

light machining work - DIY or get it done?

If you look at the second pic (Right leg) you can see what looks like the original marks from the original holes - I think they were off center to begin with. The extra metal for the fender supports would support this idea (no pun). The mounting area is flat (and should be perpendicular) on both...

light machining work - DIY or get it done?

here are some pics: With regards to press fit, im sure some good epoxy would make up the difference if they come out a tad too small or sweating the sleeves in would work if theyre too tight. Also I dont know if the new holes being a tiny bit out of perpendicular will be a huge deal...

light machining work - DIY or get it done?

So i bought and incomplete moped project and inherited the reasons why it didnt finish. Among other things, the folks tried to widen the axle openings in the fork legs to accept an 11mm axle, which is generally an uncommon size but occurs frequently enough in the moped world to warratn the mod...

    1974 CB125 engine noise

Im not sure....is it not just a weighted module that slides over the part of the camshaft that protrudes out of the head? 1. I did not know it was adjustable and 2. how would it help idle? doesnt it just advance spark at higher rpm? I messed with the carb this weekend. Stripped it again and...

    1974 CB125 engine noise

So basically I live on a fairly major hill and decided to try bump starting it. On the second time down it fired and I could keep it alive with just the right amount of throttle. I rode it enough to warm it up (was riding sans gas tank) but it would not kickstart. I bump started it. Few times...

    1974 CB125 engine noise

Finally got this thing back together with all new gaskets and fresh rings and it will not start. I did not mark TDC before tearing down the motor but all my marks line up when I turn it and I've physically checked this by confirming that when I'm at TDC my valve rockers are both wiggle loose...

    1974 CB125 engine noise

Pretty good. This particular motor was actually used in a ton of models in the 70's during which time small bikes were popular due to the oil crisis. Im looking at about $150 for the pair to my door.

    1974 CB125 engine noise

I dont know, I thought if the engine was shut off in the middle of a valve opening then the chain wouldve had spring tension on it all this time. Its really a tiny chain. Regardless, I've inspected the tensioner by removing the magneto and adjusting the tension while I could feel the tensioner...
