    TD MM vs State Farm

In auto insurance, for claims, JD Power rates State Farm 4 stars, TD 3. I am about to switch reluctantly from SF to TD because I can save 30% My SF agent is great, and he'll keep my other business, but with 2 bikes, I would have to spend $700 more / year to stay at SF.

    Anyone try Heidenau tires?

Not me personally, but there is lots of chatter about them on ADVRider lately. The opinions seem more good than bad, but they of course vary. Google this text and read away: heidenau site:www.advrider.com Alternatives to consider as well as Heidenaus might be Michelin T63 and Shinko 705...

I can fit 2 milk crates behind the seat on my Ninja, though they weren't on for this photo: gangsta / Lazy-Boy Ninja

    Suggestions for inexpensive top box

You can get a Givi Monolock box much cheaper than a Monokey. http://www.giviluggage.co/givi-luggage-explained/the-difference-between-the-givi-monolock-monokey-technology/ If a box that is just large enough for a single full-face is adequate, I have one off a now-departed bike I'd sell for $40...

    best tires for klr 650

They are good off-road, but I didn't like the D606 front on the road. Rear is noisy, but not scary on pavement. Wife just bought T63s for her Sherpa, will install for Spring. For more aggressive off-road, but better on than a D606, you might try MT-21s.

    Motorcycles for short people?

For a new rider: CBR250 (if new, or almost new, is an option). More torque (less HP) than the little Ninja, so it's easier to ride around town, light weight, cheap insurance, and available ABS.

    best tires for klr 650

Shinko 705s if you prefer reasonably price tires to high-end pricey ones.

    Route planning for dummies...

Get a GPS, it'll have restaurants, rest stops, etc. Shame to blast straight there on boring roads when there are lots of good ones if you can take the road less traveled. Post in the Regional Forums of ADVRider and ask for interesting East>West roads.

    Question regarding CTEK battery tender

Based on the number of knowledgeable sources that recommend the Battery Tender, I use the real, Deltran Battery Tender. GP Bikes includes one with every new and used bike they sell. The Junior cost $40 retail, I saw on sale in the US for $20 last week. Most I have seen, including the Can Tire...

Just bought a DL1000. Where to go?

The V-Strom is a Very good touring bike. I'd make sure you have some suitable tires before venturing off pavement. Tourance, TKC80, Karoo, etc. Otherwise, the V-Strom is only as capable on gravel and dirt roads as any other street bike (Bonneville, Sportster, etc). In slippery stuff like...

Reviews here: http://www.webbikeworld.com I have not seen helmet comparisons. Would be a hard thing to do objectively.

Thinking of Buying a Shoei Helmet...Is It Worth the $$

Check out the Shoei Qwest. I have been wearing a TZ-R for 4 seasons, very satisfied, and will probably replace with a Quest when the time comes. Read review here: http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/shoei/qwest/ Great site for helmet info. Fit is of course the most important criterion so try on...

Anybody here own a CBF 1000?

I have owned one for 1 year. Bought an '09 new as a left-over when the new and improved 2010 was announced, and Honda Canada cleared them out at around $3,400 less than MSRP Very smooth, tons of torque. Doesn't need to rev over 6000 in normal riding, red-line is 10k or maybe 10.5. Speedo is...

Need affordable clothing for dirt/road use

A little patience and Craigslist have worked well for us. Wife and I have bought quite a few jackets, gloves on bulletin boards. I bought a decent Joe Rocket jacket last Fall for $60, like new but with bug guts.

    Trailer for 2 dirt bikes

I just sold a 4-1/2'x6' Snowbear utility trailer because mostly I hauled bike(s) and it was really a pain. Way to small, no secure tie-down points. I sold it last month and bought a used 3 rail (so for 1 or 2 bikes) trailer. Huge improvement for bikes (not so much for hauling mulch or...

    Dual dirt bike rack?

Single-axle, no brakes trailer licensing requires a one-time, $35 fee for the plate. No insurance or annual inspections. Storage space an issue for some, of course.

    Ganny 2011

Actually Aaron led the group in which wifey and I rode on May 27 (unless there are multiple Aarons; this one rode an XR400R). Thank you so much Aaron! Our motorcycle riding lives have changed for the better since your "intervention". Photo of the whole family; sons were learning how to ride...

    Ganny 2011

Spent a great day riding with TrailTours in Ganaraska last Friday. My wife, 2 teenage sons and I had a fantastic day there today. The boys had never ridden a motorbike, nor even driven a car with a clutch, and by the end of the day they were scootin' around pretty well, with huge grins...
