The last 2 times I went there I rented from Eagle Rider - https://www.eaglerider.com/losangeles - does anyone know of a more cost-effective/better alternative please?
Shane - thanks so much, you've been awesome!
This is sort of urgent as I'm planning on leaving tomorrow morning BUT Does anyone have any pointers on connecting these 3 routes with Toronto being a start/end point?
I don't want to backtrack obviously and I'd be doing this over 10 days max...
Planning to drive solo with from Toronto to Virginia/West Virginia/North Carolina (Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, Deal's Gap - curvy and scenic trip) from June 1-10.
Not sure if this is too much of a demand for a drive with this much mileage and only one driver in a short time span.
As...
I need some parts for my bike (KLR650) and noticed that the shops I used to go to for my VFR are either not open anymore, or prices have gone up really high.
Where can I get oil/air filters, chain wax, and other parts for my bike for cheap?
Does online make sense for a couple of parts (or does...
Seeing how the FJ-09 is a new model without anything available on the used market, how do I get myself the best price on it from Yamaha?
It seems that most dealers are giving it for $11K plus HST (and not including freight/PDI) as their final price.
Thoughts?
If I have to wait until after...
The VFR WAS a great bike (from the early 90s up until they changed them with VTec in 2002).
$4K more for something that doesn't work as well might not be the best idea if he's considering the FJ09.
I think the Yamaha is VERY hard to beat.
I believe someone also posted a video comparison...
I sold my VFR after 16 years (and 196K on it) a couple of months ago - we're in the same boat.
I've been considering the Yamaha FJ-09 strongly.
Great engine, good ergos, upgraded seat/suspension (compared to the FZ-09).
Compared to your VFR it has things you didn't have: ABS, traction...
Update:
This weekend I rode the FZ7 and FZ9.
I thought the 7 was a blast, but now looking at the comments above, I did notice it was quite buzzy, and I'm coming from a bike that was super-smooth, so it might be a hard transition.
The 9 was a lot of fun, and if the throttle issue has been...
I LOVE Triumphs but I need the reliability of the Japanese. Speed/Street Triples are gorgeous bikes.
You know... other than one track day I was more of a urban warrior than a racer. Plus I don't like the fact that my fairings got a bunch of dings on them.
After having one for so long, I want...
I don't find KTMs to be too reliable IMO and BMWs are out of my price range.
The bikes I mentioned are all bikes I like, just nitpicking with the negatives I mentioned.
Today after 16 years and hundreds of thousands of kilometers later, I sold my 1999 Honda VFR800 Interceptor.
It was extremely reliable, comfortable for long-distance riding, sounded great, and did everything I asked of it.
The question now is what bike to get...
Seeing as I don't plan on...
I have 191K on my '99.
Other than changing one side radiator and the ball bearings in the front, I've done nothing to it other than regular maintenance.
And in terms of valves, I had them checked once at 70K and they didn't need to be adjusted so I just haven't done anything to them since...
Thanks for all the insight everyone!
Had a chance to see/sit a lot of bikes at the show and it seems that
the Street Triple seems to be the way to go. The '13 models come with
standard ABS. The only thing I don't like are the new headlights which
premiered last year, and I did prefer the...
