    Holly ****!!!!!!

Re: Holly f***!!!!!! The bike is just expensive, the prices for parts for that bike are truly outrageous. If you built it out of parts it would cost over 3 times more.

    How realistic is it?

You're taking a school with instructors who are past or current racers, who are observing you learn and progress on the racetrack, wouldn't they be the best to ask this question? IMO, If you're naturally quick, comfortable and want to go racing, you should set a date, latch on to a good...

    Bike question

There are ways to get good instruction without being financially gifted. e.g. Be strategic about the trackdays that you do, latch on to a good instructor and feed him/her beer :D or coffee or whatever vice they have. Figuring out who, when and how is part of your journey, if I give you all the...

Lapping day at Grand Bend Sunday Oct 23rd.

.....or riding issues. Some may recall that the first time RACE went to TMP everyone was complaining that their rear tires were being shredded. As they learned the track and got faster, their tires looked better........hmmmmmm.

Have you ever thought about racing?

I worked with 1 rider for the entire summer, he supplied everything including bikes and beer, so I guess I worked for beer and big wheelies on his superbike :) I'd suggest making a short list (very short) of who you want to work with and have a chat with them at the bike show in Dec.

Have you ever thought about racing?

Passing isn't a natural process, it's learned like everything else you do on track. It sounds like you need to spend some time with a good instructor to focus on building your skills and confidence. Now is a good time to line someone up for next year.

Have you ever thought about racing?

I could use an off-colour analogy of the difference between track days and racing but I'll just say; Racing is the most intense, most amazing thing you can do with a motorcycle and track days are just a facsimile, fun but unrewarding. Admittedly, I'm a competitor, a racer and I struggle to...

    2011 Moto GP?

If he consistently pushes the front tire, feeling the front tire going away would result in him standing the bike up and running wide (something we've seen him do many times). They have skills and equipment far beyond anything we can imagine (except me, I've raced a 250gp bike), pushing is part...

    2011 Moto GP?

........and how would Rossi know he was going about to over-ride the front tire? (clue: feeling from the front-end) At that level they all push the front tire, feel is absolutely critical, without it you go slow or crash, Rossi has done both.

tankslapper can push back on the brake pads???

It's happens quite often. Newer bikes are more rigid so it takes a more violent event to make it happen, but as we all saw, it still happens.

Why do MotoGP riders stick their legs out before turns?

A dangling leg will have no effect on a passing rider. I'm 100% certain that if I run my bike up against it, you'll put your leg away, so what value does it have?

Why do MotoGP riders stick their legs out before turns?

MotoGP bikes are very fast and have very strong carbon brakes. Braking is limited more by weight transfer (rear wheel lifting) than front tire traction. The leg "drag" shifts more of the riders weight to the seat and theoretically allows harder braking or more stable braking. Note how many...

    Best Motorcycle Show in Toronto

Someone's having a bad day? Why not go to as many as you can afford? Why let strangers dictate what you do with your free time and money? The Dec. show has all the new bikes, so if that's what you want to see, that show should be first on the list. Go to them all and decide for yourself.

MotoGP Braking Techniques with Kevin Schwantz

Proof positive that the rear brake is not the key, just a tool that, if used properly, can aid you. It's all about how (well) you use it.

    Brake pad "bed-in"

It's important to understand what the bed-in process is so that you don't get caught up in opinions. Stainless steel brake rotors are actually poor for coefficient of friction but they are extremely durable. Brake pads are designed to deposit a layer of pad material on the rotors to increase the...
