Thought I'd chime in with my two cents. Any shop that needs your money up front is not qualified to do work on your bike. If it's your buddy or a board member whos doing you a solid, sure maybe pick up the parts or give him the money to do so. A shop should be capable of financing any repairs or...

+1 for Tim at twin cycle. He'll do them for 25 a tire all in, if the wheels are off the bike. If he says he's too busy, well.... money talks. If your into riding for the long haul, learn to do it yourself, you'lll save alot of $$$$$.
