    Vice documentary: Black Bike Week

Just saw this. Pretty interesting: http://www.vice.com/en_ca/Fringes/black-bike-week Myrtle Beach bike week for sport bike/Ruff Rider culture. I like these guys. Presenter is a bit of a priggish hipster, but she does a good doc. 'Murica-Yo.

So, who got a ticket at L&L tonight?

So you went to L&L and the cops were there with a checkpoint to record your plates and license info using trumped up tickets. Wow. Shocking. This video is american, but the same basic things apply in Canada. If you plan to hang out in places where you are likely to get hassled by cops, you...

leslie lakeshore. whats with the gangs showing up

It is good to steer clear of outlaws. Some might be interesting people, but it's inviting a lot of bad luck into your life. The very few who are real criminals can take advantage of people who are lonely, need friends, or get off on taking dumb risks they don't understand - like hanging around...

    ISO spare parts?

Just getting into fixing some small things, replacing seals washers and grommets and such and I'm looking for both a source (in the GTA) and potentially a list of ISO components on a bike that I can just keep around. Is there a place to just buy a collection generic o-rings, seals, washers...

Gear advice for night riding in the country

Do deer whistles actually work or are they a fake gimmick?

    Speed limits

I wouldn't advocate harassing individual ministers. If MPs as public figures all had GPSs in their cars, both personal and chauffeured, we could find out whether they obey speed limits. Or are they outlaws too? One could technically also do this with home made license plate readers set a few...

    Speed limits

Ontario speed limits just cause people to lose respect for the law. Same with parking enforcement. It is a mistake to think that any policy ever has anything to do with reason or principle. It's about who gets powers in exchange for support and votes. There is no other reason. Of course there...

Why ?! Why would you brake check someone when your on the bike ?

GTFO of the left lane. Motorcyclist didn't brake check but seemed to roll off the throttle. Not smart, but there is something broken in society when people can do things like drive in the left lane without fear of physical consequences.

hws 400, 401 collectors resurfacing, careful.

Just a note to anyone taking the 400 north past major mack, rutherford or King, the left 2 lanes have their surface stripped and can cause a serious wobble or traction problems. As far as I could see, it's not signed either. Collectors from the Allen to the 400 are the same. If I had known...

I saw you ( speed trap version)

Is there an way to get the Waze or trapster time/location data to build a statistical inference version? People don't behave very randomly, and while I know from experience to be careful around known trap locations, it would be handy to just alert on the higher likelihood based on the data.

Is a Harley 883 sportster a chick bike?

There is a different 'scene' in the city. If you hang out with old men on electra glides, then yes, the 883 chicky - but their chicks have more saggy tats and chest hair than I do. However, there is a new generation of HD riders who would otherwise be riding classic Triumphs, except...

YRP catches bike at 198 km/hr in 70 zone.

If 2WET were just wrong, people would ignore him instead of trying to discredit the post. There are probably a couple of inaccuracies, but based on public information, some ADS-B flight tracking software, radio trunks, and the specs of the aircraft published on police websites, he (she?)...

    Best local country food stops.

Thought I would start the thread to see what else comes up. Lots of great places for food downtown, but once you get out past the 'burbs, you have to know where you are going. the Shed and Hockley General are fine destinations, but there is a lot out there. Three places I can say are worth...

Ontario MTO (Drive Test) Road Test Success Rates

Hate to say it, but the driver test is so absurdly subjective, the best bet is to go to a location where you are most likely to encounter someone with the same ethnic background as you. They will say there is no quota of fails, but really, if you are under pressure to make a quota, you know who...

If you could save on insurance cost would you submit to this?

Would not use it, and would not hire anyone stupid enough to use it. I also wouldn't socialize with them, ride with them, or let my kids play with their kids. Say no to tracking devices.

Picking up and talking to chicks on bicycles and scooters downtown.

Dude, "fake" just means not into you. If a girl says, "nice bike" she's yours to lose. Say, "thanks, nice everything" and if she doesn't run, introduce yourself and talk about the weather.

Drive Right. (GTFO of the left lane.)

Hey MacDoc, OP here, it sounds like you've also given this a fair bit of thought. I would disagree about the safest/fastest lane, because over all traffic risk is a game of whack-a-mole. The people camping in the left lane are pushing their risk on to everyone else by blocking our emergency...

Drive Right. (GTFO of the left lane.)

Actually, I drive in the right lane as often as possible, and when I come up on someone, I pass them in the middle. Sometimes I use the left lane, but only to get past someone camped in the middle lane, and then it looks like multiple lane changes to get around people who are driving poorly. I...

Drive Right. (GTFO of the left lane.)

The trouble with that logic is it ignores the fact that people who drive left are forcing EVERYONE ELSE to go at THEIR speed, and if you can do the math, technically everyone must go much slower than the speed of the blocker. There is nothing self-centered about pointing this out. People who...
