HELP! - Terrible Fuel Efficiency on SV650s w Power Commander

Yeah, I know airflow was definitely out of spec, though I didn't know how much because i removed everything except the filter a while back (did not have a replacement filter at the time). However everything I read had convinced me that just the airflow could not account for a 40% drop in fuel...

HELP! - Terrible Fuel Efficiency on SV650s w Power Commander

So put in the K&N, added some injector cleaner and have so far driven 220km with no light even though it was under-filled by about 1cm, spent an hour idling in rush hour traffic, had some spirited country riding, and had a pillion for about 20km. Seems like it was the air filter. I have to...

    Need new tires

+1 on PR3s and Pete's. I did a lot of looking around and after the hassle, gas, and CBI costs, it just wasn't worth it to go to the states. Have about 2000km on these tires and they barely look scrubbed in but grip really well. Rain grip is easily 80% of norm as long as you stay off the metal...

HELP! - Terrible Fuel Efficiency on SV650s w Power Commander

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I really appreciate the help. BTW, anyone have objections to using Sea Foam in a sportbike? Brian P: The K&N came in earlier than expected and is now in the bike. Will put in seafoam with the next tank and go for a good long ride tomorrow. The good thing...

HELP! - Terrible Fuel Efficiency on SV650s w Power Commander

Air filter is completely clogged. Found acorns and rodent pellets in there when I opened the airbox for the first time. I originally ordered a regular filter and they told me the next week that they didn't have any and it was discontinued. So i placed an order for the K&N. Should be here in a...

HELP! - Terrible Fuel Efficiency on SV650s w Power Commander

Wow, thanks so much for the detailed response Brian P. You're awesome guy! The PC is the exact same as when I first bought the bike. Did not re-map, or touch it in any way. I suppose it is possible that the buttons got pushed by me overfilling my (sorry excuse for a) trunk, but other than...

HELP! - Terrible Fuel Efficiency on SV650s w Power Commander

I bought a 2005 SV650s at the start of the season and it was running fine with about 250km on a tank until the indicator came on (~15L used). Now I'm only getting 160-170km before it's been coming on. This bike should be getting around 250-300km on a tank. It came with a Power Commander III...

    Trick to triggering red lights

Some people get all worked up that u turns/pushing buttons/running the light is illegal. Realistically if you do your best to do any of the three as safely and legally as is realistically possible, in my experience most cops aren't going to ticket you for stuff like that. You might get the...

What's wrong with my body positioning?

I'm far from an expert, but I did recently drag knee in a lot and my first few tries felt/looked exactly as you described. If dragging knee is what you want to do, here are a few things that helped me. Make sure you're doing this on a hot day with warm pavement that is clear of grates, cracks...

Used bikes, and sellers' ignorance when it comes to tires.

Viper84737 has some scrubs for sale if you're looking to go that route. PM him.

Bikes do get parking tickets in Toronto ...

Yup and Green P lots aren't free either. Only street parking.

Safety Course with RTI @ Oakville (June 8, 9, 10)

RTI's awesome. Learned with them and you should be very well equipped for the street once you're done. But even if you're well prepared, your body will just be starting to get the muscle memory so take it easy on the street and never ever let your guard down (eg cagers turning left). Good luck!

Used bikes, and sellers' ignorance when it comes to tires.

Giddyup69, I think what the OP is getting at is that sellers are getting angry at him when he asks for a pricing compromise after noticing that their "great condition tires" are so old that their grip will have been compromised by outgass hardening and will need changing. You're totally right...

    Fairing Repair kits

I'll second this. Did it myself about two months ago on some broken fairings I bought off a guy. don't waste your money on expensive fairing repair kits. It's really not hard to do. The only potential problem with Bondo is that it might fail if you are fixing a section that flexes because I am...

Buying a bike from a salvage/used dealer. Would you?

Yeah you can do it, but it's still a huge hassle. I just had a bad experience with a dealer like that. Here's the review thread. http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?157800-Reveiw-Canway-Motorsports-amp-Andrew-Bell-Watch-your-back!

    Federal Government bike auctions

...That doesn't even start because it's been sitting without fuel stabilizer for like 5 years lol. I'm looking at an ad on kijiji right now for one that's 2 years newer, has a bunch of upgrades and just got an oil change, for $1,500 less. Seriously, who buys this stuff if they start the bidding...

Gaining experience on highways and locking the rear tire on 401

Hey, great to see you're pushing your abilities gradually and getting used to new situations, it's the only way to get better! A couple of thoughts came to mind reading your post: 1- If you want to get better and safer, I would suggest practicing manoeuvering, cornering and emergency braking...

Reveiw Canway Motorsports & Andrew Bell - Watch your back!

Any comments Andrew? If you're going say that you are "there for your customers" and then stonewall frustrated and angry clients on public forums, that's really not going to help your credibility. I am not looking for an unreasonable resolution like you paying for my HIDs, chain...

thinking of a 250cc or similar size

250's don't "really move" anything but their tach as you frequently pin the throttle riding around town. It definitely sounds like you'd be better off with something bigger.

thinking of a 250cc or similar size

If you want a 250 that LOOKs like a full 600 i'll second mattcanada's suggestion of a hyo. They'll even get you more compliments than some of the 500CC+ bikes because of the nice modern styling. You'll get some B.S. attitude from some of the more elitist bikers because it's an up-and-coming...
