I think they would be fun on a parking lot with cones kinda circuit, but on a real track they are kinda sad. Just lots of time holding the throttle wide open waiting waiting waiting for the next corner to arrive so you have something to do. Boring.
I think when you have a track with multiple configurations using corner numbers just gets confusing anyway. Corner names are better in that case. But for me, if on the correct line you turn the bike in just once and don't stand it up again even a little, then that is all one corner. That...
Blog post - getting ready for Round 4. I made a track map for "Reverse Technical". Curious to know if everyone agrees with the corner numbering. Pretty sure what I have labeled T3 and T4 will indeed be distinct corners with their own turn-in points. I think 6 and 7 may end up being a pretty...
That's interesting. I ride a twin and I am into 6th for the straight, down to 4th (!) for T1, third for T3 - T5, second for T6, then third all the way back to the straight. That's 4 downshifts per lap (and of course 4 upshifts).

I know this has been covered before but I can't find the info. How the heck do I register for the Friday practice day for Round 4 on the 15th? I know I am supposed to register through the track, but the Fridays do not appear on their website. Do I call them or what?
Nice write-up, I enjoyed reading that. Flirting with 1:30 is indeed a very good first outing at TMP. Congratulations.
I am not saying that your body position is terrible or anything, but you definitely want to work on your body / leg / foot position so that you can consistently have your knee...
I refrain to give advice to anyone who is almost 2.5 s faster than I am. Awesome lap Jamie.
Now I need to go back to TMP to try to close the gap. I see RD has added an August 14 date (Thursday)...but SOAR is that weekend....dare I? I feel like a little test and tune day could be justified.
Loved how you dropped that in there nonchalantly. Who the hell goes for a 10-km run? Are you training for a marathon, or was something scary chasing you???
I think I might try replacing the fluid with another DOT 4 that has a higher boiling point than the Penske, and flushing the whole system. Wondering if maybe the carbon pads were generating more heat? Still waiting for Steve to tell us if he changed the master or not. It can't be sucking air...
With the old pads the fluid was nothing special - Penske DOT 4, new package, flushed right through in the spring. Worked fine for 3 races. I'll have to ask my brother what he put in when they bled them last Saturday - for sure it was the right grade but I don't know the brand.
He scoured the...
2003 GSXR600 - Our SOAR endurance bike. We were running the old pads that came in the bike when we bought it up until last round. But then we put in "carbon pads" - CP211 I think. During the race there seemed to be way too much lever travel - it never touched the bar but it was just a lot...
Exactly. And unfortunately that doesn't leave me with anyone left in rookie that I can pass! Oh well...someone has to be the backmarker. Once Kyle starts to lap me though I am done.
If I understood that correctly it still wouldn't work. That would wire the screw to the peg, but the peg and the screw could still rotate together, unscrewing both from the carrier.
Oh wait...if I also wire the peg to the carrier so it can't rotate, that should work. Okay...that's a solution...
