Hit to H-D by India because of Trump's trade war

Isn't that the case with any luxury good sold anywhere in the world. If you're rich enough to afford it, you're rich enough not to care about the sundries. I'd agree that this move is mostly symbolic. It could be a reaction that other countries also take in retaliation to the USA's tariffs...

Hit to H-D by India because of Trump's trade war

India is fighting back in the escalating trade war going on between USA and other nations. Being targeted are large American motorcycle manufacturers - I'm assuming Harley Davidson here. H-D can little do with shrinking world sales along with a shrinking domestic market because of changing...

Thanks, PrivatePilot, for the references that answer my question.

Liable for the sold bike in accident?

Earlier, it was mentioned not to leave the plates on a vehicle when sold. Understandable. Is there a process that could be followed that would allow a seller to safely transfer the plates to the buyer, if desired. I'm thinking here of vanity plates which match the vehicle. These could be...

How / where to clean textile mesh jacket

Thanks for all the positive suggestions guys. I removed the armour, sprayed Shout on all the heavily soiled areas of the jacket (cuffs, neck, shoulder, arms, elbows, & bottom hem) and let stand for 5 minutes, ran it through the front-load washer on delicate setting with cold water and organic...

How / where to clean textile mesh jacket

Macdoc, interesting reading. One of the posters in the last linked ADVRider thread had no success with washing his Olympia jacket. I think mine is in the same condition, so I will research the TULIP paint and 303 fabric treatments after giving the washing a go and evaluating the results. My...

How / where to clean textile mesh jacket

Ok, thanks very much for that help. I'll do the gentle wash with extra rinse. I'm going to also give the badly stained areas a shot with stain remover (Shout and a little hand scrubbing before washing) to see if that can lift the dirt.

How / where to clean textile mesh jacket

Hi, I've got an Olympia textile jacket in hi-vis yellow that is really showing the road dirt. I went to a local dry cleaner to see if they could clean the jacket but unfortunately they could do nothing for me. They said they tried to help another customer earlier that had the same problem...

    M/C jack at Canadian Tire

The jacks themselves are very sturdy. Before buying my current hydraulic stand, I used one often to lift my BMW. That bike offered a good flat oil pan as a base to rest on the stand, that's important. I also use some angle irons to extend the reach of the oil pan and make things stable...

    Installing a turn indicator beeper?

No, I assumed it was just a beeper. Given it's a 2-pole flasher relay, my idea won't work. It will work if the OP was to use a 12V peizo beeper instead. Just be careful to select one that doesn't draw much current.

    Installing a turn indicator beeper?

You'll have to connect that beeper through a pair of diodes. 1N4004 power diodes will work well. - right signal live to anode of one diode - left signal live to anode of another diode - connect cathodes of both diodes together and wire to the live side of the beeper - ground the other pin on the...

Importing a Motor Vehicle To Canada (the be all end all)

I have a line on a vintage bike I am considering buying that's located in the US (model year 1991). The bike was in an accident, written off by the insurance company because of its age and branded salvage. The owner rebuilt it including replacing the frame with one that had a clear title and...

Importing a Motor Vehicle To Canada (the be all end all)

Re: $35 aes itn I had that issue when I moved back to Canada after living abroad for several years. I brought over a BMW K-bike with a short VIN. I had to provide photos of the various plates and registrations on the frame as well as the original ownership docs. It ended up going well with MOT...

parking bike at airport for a week...yes or no?

Check out "Park for U" ( https://www.parkforu.com/ ). Call them to see if they can accommodate a motorcycle indoors. They are very inexpensive but you will have to see whether they can arrange a shuttle from their location to your terminal (their SOP is to drive you to/from the terminal in...

Shipping motorcycle parts out of country for repair/modification

If you haven't yet shipped the forks to the US for installation, I can offer my experience. I bought a set of Andreani cartridges for my Moto Guzzi V7. They required the same modification to the OEM forks, namely using a lathe to break welds inside the fork in order to remove the internal...

    Insurance went down in 2018?

Been with TD for years as well. I have home, auto and motorcycles under a multi-line agreement. They increased the premiums on my motorcycles by a tiny bit but lowered my auto and house insurance by a moderate amount; ended up saving overall although not specifically on the bikes.
