After some discussion we decided to ride back to Port Aux Basques. The first ferry out of Argentia doesn't run till this Sat so we'd have to kill another couple of days in St John's. Cost for 2 nights stay plus an additional $200 for the ferry, it just seemed better to make the run back. A 15...

That thing come in a digital version? Never mind, it does. Paperback version (of Fodor's Alaska) is $12, digital is $20 on Amazon...Seriously? Maybe they charge more for the weight conscious crowd...less is more I guess.

Welcome to Newfoundland said the sign, or so I'm told. I couldn't take my eyes off the mountains so I had to take Lori's word for it. I actually made a comment that this was the first time I didn't see a sign that welcomed you to a province, instead here they welcomed you with a stunning view...

We've really enjoyed every trip out east. Newfoundland however takes top spot! Thanks LX3 has been ordered. Where to next? Well since we've gone as far east as we can, on land at least, it would seem the only way of for us to go is west. So we're leaving St John's tomorrow and heading back...

Thank you. Gaspé, PEI, Cabot Trail, Bay of Fundy, Peggy's Cove, Newfoundland...much to see. It's definitely worth a trip (or several) out here, even on four wheels. It took us a few trips to check everything off that list though. Ha! Doesn't sound like you needed any help with that last bit...

The kit came with that 18-55 but it did not make the packing list. The one we brought is the 18-200 3.5-5.5 VR2. Seems to be an excellent all around lens so far. Than pick them up used from Henry's on Ebay for a good chunk of change less than new. We bought it last year with this trip in mind...

Thanks MacDoc. We're using an iPhone...kidding We're using a D5100 with a Nikkor 18-200 lens. Although the iPhone does stand in once in a while. We've talked about picking up a P&S for on the bike. The iPhone is ok for that but gets a 2/10 for ease of use with gloves on. Although I can still...

Back at the motel we found more toys to play with, they were super friendly.
A little blue goes a long way on a cloudy day.
Sure puts a smile on my face. I have to admit that traveling as a couple involves some compromise. There have been days when we get up and I would like to go...

Re: A view from the back of the bike We hoped to get out to Brier Island in the morning but it was still foggy and weather was scheduled to move in by 11am so we decided to keep trucking. We sort of backtracked a bit to Digby for breakfast and made a plan to head south and across NS. I say sort...

A view from the back of the bike The first three weeks; a view from the back of the bike (written by Lori) The first three weeks have been both exciting and trying. To be honest there have been a few moments of envy when we've been camping near RV's. There have even been a couple of...

No moose yet. We did see one in NB a couple of years ago and of course there was a black bear at the side of the TCH in NB this trip. But I have a feeling we'll see a moose or two here.

Our last loop around the Cabot (in July) we saw pretty much every type of weather but snow. It's spectacular out here but I think Lori is getting a bit tired of the cold. We're actually in NFLD now and it's a gorgeous crisp day, about 10C. While I'd love to spend a bit more time on Cape Breton...

We were in and out of New Brunswick in a day. No real reason, in fact we had no real plan that morning, but after a coffee stop, Lori said "let's just ride east". So we did. We found a campground just into Nova Scotia in Amherst, Loch Lomond RV park. We booked in for a night and ended up...

That's a tough one. I wouldn't say Lori was exactly on board with the idea when I first mentioned it, but she definitely is now. The ops are the same, maybe the willingness to pull over and take out the camera are a bit different...

From there we headed further west to Les Sept Chutes (the Seven Waterfalls). Coming down the gravel hill we hit a patch of sand, the bike did a little dance, I thought for sure it was going down. Next thing I know we're still going down the hill on two wheels, I guess our first drop is going to...

After another phenomenal brekky, we headed a few kilometres west to the Sainte-Anne-De-Beaupré Basilica. I'm not sure there is anything I can say to describe it that will do it justice. It's quite a phenomenal place to see first hand. Opening these doors was like trying to move a small...

Re: Rain, rain and even more rain Very cool mural. We popped into a random coffee shop for a little break, that cheesecake was phenomenal by the way. The seagull really makes this shot I think... To say Chateau Frontenac is massive would be an understatement. Yes Lori loves old...
