    Trade-in vs private sale

Personally I'd take the hit on the money to save the hassle and trade in every time. I've bought all my bikes from dealerships, some new, some used, but I generally keep my bikes for 8+yrs and put a lot of kms on them so the dealerships don't want to take them on trade. I got lucky when it was...

    American boycott

This is one of the really nice things about living in Cottage Country. No crawling through traffic, no boring 2hr rides to get to the good roads. 507 is like 30min from my door!

This is what I was afraid of.....

I will say I've had mostly good experiences selling on Kijiji. Lot's of "is it still for sale" and when I reply "yes" with a list of dates/times I am available I never hear from them again. Par for the course. Most things I've sold for asking price. They come, see it, like it, pay for it and...

What's your dream production bike? (Practical, or totally impractical?)

I'd love to have a '69-'73 Honda CB750. The bike that pretty well destroyed the British motorcycle manufacturers! Also, totally impractical, but I'd love a first gen Ducati M900. I know that compared to today's bikes it has lack-luster performance, sub-par paint, an insane service schedule...

This is what I was afraid of.....

I know his Wife knows how much he paid for the bike as she had to come and see it and give him the okay to buy it on the delivery date. During the month between selling him the bike and now he did message me twice, once to say he didn't realize it was going to cost so much to register the bike...

    2002 inline four GSX600F

My Bandit 600 had 65k on it and zero issues. I wouldn't hesitate to put well over 100k on one.

This is what I was afraid of.....

I know there is nothing he can do to come back on me, I check off the box that said the vehicle wasn't certified in the sellers package. It's just annoying. Life lesson I guess. As for your question MacDoc, I picked up a 2005 ST1300 back in September and LOVE it! When it comes time to sell...

This is what I was afraid of.....

So last month I had my 2001 Suzuki Bandit 600 up for sale, it had 65k on it. A guy came and looked at it, started raving about how clean it was and how good the condition of the bike was. I told him the service history of the bike and that as far as I knew it only needed a passenger foot peg...

    Pannier advice

I had a full set of Givi luggage on my Bandit for 8 years and LOVED them! The quality was excellent. I do agree with the statement about the top loaders being easier but if you go with the side loaders you get used to them pretty quickly. I generally used my panniers for stuff like clothes or...

    American boycott

I had 2 trips to the US planned for this summer. One was a 3 day ride through PA and the other was an IBA Great Lakes Circle tour. Both are currently scrapped and being re-routed for in Canada rides. I could have stomached the tariff issue as from time to time Gov'ts are going to squabble...

is it worht it getting a 1000cc SS for the street?

Keeping in mind that most "adrenaline junkies" on bikes don't fare well in the long run if they stick to the street. One of 2 things almost always happens, you crash or you get caught. Nothing wrong with loving accelerating on a bike but it sounds like you are best suited to a closed course...

    Happy Father's Day Dads

I spent the first half of Father's Day helping to tear down the Ride for Sight and then rode home in full gear (and my back seat packed with my camping gear) in 31c temps + humidity! I was just a little sweaty when I got home! My daughters gave me a home-made tie-dyed shirt and a big squirt...

Is There Any Bike Out There That Can Give You 400+ km's On Tank Of Gas?

My ST1300 will do 450km+ with it's 29L fuel tank. Usually my bladder runs out before my tank does! When I'm taking it easy and fill up around 450km (last bar on the fuel gauge is blinking) the most it has taken was 24L! Still haven't taken it passed that but clearly could. I seem to have a...

    Sport Bike Riders Oddly Missing

I know I'm seeing fewer SS bikes on the roads in the last few years. Many are switching to ST's, ADV's and naked bikes. The cruiser bike culture is deeply rooted in riding clubs and group events which is a big reason why you see so many at rides like this. They often plan for their group to...

Any Iron Butt Association riders here?

The IBA is HUGE on safety. They are constantly encouraging riders to quit a ride if they become fatigued or feel unsafe in any way. I can tell you on the IBA Facebook page and forum that tales of "I was 2/3 of the way there but had to quit for X reason" get the most comments of encouragement...

    So much chrome!

I used to enjoy polishing the chrome when I had a cruiser. It was relaxing. I'd take the bike out in the driveway on a Friday evening, wash it, dry it and shine it. I'd have a beer or two, take my time. When it's all said and done they look fantastic and you get a lot of compliments on your...

Looking for suggestions on what to buy

I'm a big fan of the Suzuki Bandit 650/GSX650F. They tick a lot of boxes for you like comfort etc and are fuel injected. They are still plenty of fun with lots of power and great handling and they can be bought pretty cheap in good shape. The insurance is equally affordable on them.

    Cardo PackTalk BOLD

Am I the last rider on the planet who doesn't want a comm unit? Never mind the expense of these things, one of the things I love most about riding is NOT being able to be gotten a hold of!
