Thanks for the input frekeyguy. I certainly hope this bolt will be staying put for a while, the slider uses a motor mount bolt. Can't hurt to add a dab of blue loctite as a safe guard I guess.
Who uses loctite on their frame slider bolts? Never had to deal with it on my first and previous bike since there were no frame slider options but picked up a set of Woodcraft's for the new bike to protect it from any minor drops and mishaps.
Woodcraft instructions say to use anitseize but...
That's why traffic circles (round-a-bouts) work so well. For some reason many North American drivers fail to grasp how to properly use them so they are rarely implemented.
If a polite wave motioning them back doesn't work, I'll swerve around in my lane a bit which they usually have a mini panic attack over and back up a bit.
If you have some old spark plugs, pennies, or marbles in your pocket that happen to drop out by chance...that also does the trick; or so I'm...
Under our HTA a bicycle is considered a slow moving vehicle when using the roadway (which must be done unless the operator is under the age of 16; then they can use the sidewalk). Sources are MTO, along with my father who was auxiliary with OPP and badged with a force far north....I always...
If there is no bike lane then according to the HTA the cyclist would be splitting lanes and in the wrong since they should be using the same lane just as we do on two wheels. However YMMV since it's always the cars fault. If there is a bike lane then you must yield to the cyclist since you are...
Except that we would be met with a false promise too. Expecting positive change from our provincial gov't with an idea that's logical?!?!? I like your sense of humor.
Tank stickers though you can usually get the paint corrected with some buffing and polishing since its on a painted surface. Bare plastic is harder since you can't cut and remove layers like you can with paint.
It looks like bag probably came with straps that would strap somewhere under the tank to secure it. I have also seen specific tank covers that secure to the tank for bag mounting. I would try to rig something up with a standard strap that fits the securing point on the bag and then secure it...
If its plastic your probably sol as the colour difference is most likely from uv exposure (or non exposure under the sticker). If its a painted surface you could probably buff and polish a bit.
Thanks for your insight, thankfully some of those cons don't bother me too much...My current Katana is about 460lbs, looking at the FZ8 so less plastic to buzz, I'm 120 soaking wet on a good day so suspension and brakes should be more than adequate, and there are options for upgrading. I was...
Funny enough I was at the show this weekend and finally had the chance to sit on the FJ-09...and something that checked all the boxes quickly turned into a nope. Now looking towards the FZ8 or Fazer8. Any naggles that you have about the Fazer?
That's the thing, I have heard nothing but great things about the bike and seems to fit my needs for a sporty commuter that can also haul some camping or photo gear.
The Hyperstrada is a close runner up but the maintenance requirments (belts along with valves) and the lack of luggage options...
Thanks for all the feedback! This will be my second bike and just a bit worried that I might regret now that I have something to compare against.
I'd be buying from the dealer since its still a fairly new bike.
Planning on heading to the show this weekend so hopefully there is one I can refresh...
Can't comment on the chain and sprockets but the Michelin PR4's are great tires if you do a lot of riding...not the stickiest but have decent grip and are long lasting. Picked mine up from Pete's Superbike online and have 20k+ km or so on mine and are just starting to show wear from heavy...
Has anyone here picked up a bike without test riding first? If so, did you have any regrets?
I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on an FJ-09 and putting the Katana to rest. Obviously this time of year is pretty much impossible to do any test rides so aside from sitting and getting a feel...
Hopefully headed out east to do the Cabot Trail in July/August also. Still debating on how far east to go and what route to take since this will be my first tour out of Ontario....if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear.
