Bummer of an update -- you have to be 30 for Dalton Timmis (what the ****...I'm 26, I worked hard so I could rebuild this bike, and now they don't think I'm old enough to be able to have a truly classic bike?) and no one else will insure anything but liability. IF I get insurance from my main...
My other bikes are with wawanesa, which apparently doesn't do any discounts for historic bikes. It's a restored 78 cb750, not worth a ton of anything, but I'll only be driving it to shows, and I've heard classic insurance can be crazy cheap, compared to what I pay for other bikes (still just...
I should clarify that I ride and plan to ride far outside the GTA. I live in Whitby, but particularly on rides to northern Ontario on my new KLR, I don't want to be dealing with cops that simply don't understand. Maybe it's not likely, being on small fire roads, but above all, this is about the...
Isn't that kinda messed up though? You can ride a motorcycle safely while standing (you don't see cyclists getting charged for pedalling hard, now do you?) yet we have to consider the length of time standing to not have our lives potentially financially destroyed.
As for half a brain, well...
That's my biggest concern. I know with 100% certainty that standing on the pegs won't get a 172 conviction, but it'd still hurt me for a few grand in impound fees, not to mention not being able to drive for a week.
I really don't think it's been contested on property seizure grounds. I know the...
I've been working to improve my technique on rough roads, especially easy now that I've got a KLR650. Of course, one major technique, especially on dirt roads, is standing on the pegs.
Anecdotal evidence shows people getting charged with stunting with roadside seizure ($$$$ impound) and 7 day...
You were back in the middle lane by the time the collision occurred, yes? I'd absolutely fight for 0% fault in that case. Doesn't matter how you got there, you were going straight and had the right of way in that lane.
It's super easy to find a junky mid-80's UJM, 750's are outrageously common and very cheap. So given all the abuse you'd expect a dual sport/adventure bike to go through, where are the cheap junky ones?
I don't want to spend big bucks on a pretty well kept machine, only to take it seriously...
I'm looking for a secondary bike to my big ol' Concours, since it's she's not really any good on the dirt/gravel roads in northern Ontario and Quebec that are only a day away.
Those pretty KLR's on kijiji for $4000 need not apply, I'm looking for something that is potentially ugly as sin...
I had 2 car accidents last year, 1 my fault, 1 just bad luck, completely not-at-fault. When I run quotes online, for simplicity's sake, I usually only put the 1 at-fault, because I know for a fact not-at-fault accidents should not affect the rate, and often having multiple accidents makes online...
Something to note: You should be making a *big* stink if you do lose any discounts from a break in insurance.
Length of insured time and continuous insurance are explicitly excluded from being allowed in any insurance rating. By the letter of the law, these discounts are in compliance, but...
Be reasonable, Wind's coverage is significantly worse than any of the big names. I'm with you hating on Rogers or Bell, but that $42 difference isn't *all* ripoff, at least part of it provides the value of a better network.
Compare with maxed out coverage then if you like, you'll still find it much cheaper in Texas. *However*, because others have the choice to have lower coverage, the average payouts are lower, and thus total cost for all riders is much lower. Freedom of choice = lower rates.
There are many other...
$2100, at 23, with an M2, in Brampton, for an SFV650??? That is an *outrageously* good deal in Ontario. Like, unheard of, and frankly highly suspect... Make sure you're eligible for that before making any plans, a lot of companies require an M
Is it really ending a yearly agreement though? The policy isn't ending, just the insured vehicle is changing. That's why they don't charge me fees, or re-rate based on accidents/tickets, no?
I'm 100% positive I could go through 5 different bikes in a season in the case of simply buying and...
Direct writers have always been outrageously expensive compared to companies that primarily deal in cars and will only write a motorcycle policy in conjunction with the rest of the package. Not surprised to see TD is sucking just as hard as ever.
