I am unclear on the M1 60 days minimum requirement

You're probably right, most will probably pass without the course, but more education can't hurt if you can afford it.

What are the laws surrounding insurance quotes based on "years insured"?

Re: What are the laws surrounding insurance quotes based on "years insured"? It's not about cancelling the discount, it's about exposing the industry. The government is lazily trying to fix what we have, when we need to *overhaul* the system; start from the ground up.

Should I keep my mouth shut?

You must be over 30, or live in moosonee. Every time I look at insurance, I strongly contemplate leaving Ontario. There's so much to hate about this place that it almost makes it not worth it.

at fault - no pay counts against you?

It's better than other places, sure, but it's still not going to maintain your standard of living, no matter what your income level is. Insurance will screw you whether you have awesome benefits or not. I'd rather save money and be screwed than pay out the *** and still be screwed.

    Removing Logos

Those warning stickers are bloody obnoxious; are they required to be there by law? Seriously, if it's just that only the end consumer can remove it, they should make them out of easily removable plastic.

I am unclear on the M1 60 days minimum requirement

On a similar topic: can you take the M2 exit course before your 18 months are up, and take the paperwork in at 18 months + a day? The one place I looked seemed to say that you had to actually be eligible at the time of taking the course.

    Insurance advice (Hamilton)

How old are you? TD was quoting three times that when I lived in Hamilton and had a 400. ('83 GS400) I'm 23, 22 then.

at fault - no pay counts against you?

At all costs, avoid insurance company involvement. At this point, Ontario's insurance has gotten so ridiculous that you're really just paying x dollars to get the sticker to get your vehicle on the road. You can't actually use your benefits because it will cost you so much more the next year...

What are the laws surrounding insurance quotes based on "years insured"?

Re: What are the laws surrounding insurance quotes based on "years insured"? Rating on length of continuous is illegal: https://www.fsco.gov.on.ca/en/auto/autobulletins/archives/Pages/a-06_97.aspx They get around it with some ******** about discounts, and it really should be addressed. Length...

All the gear all the time?

Re: ALL THE GEAR ALL THE TIME - Are you a gear nazi? This. I've ridden in t-shirt and shorts, and on such a ride I'd probably have gone without a helmet if I lived in NH; I was testing out some adjustments to my shifter around the block. Most days, I have either a Joe Rocket King Cruiser...

    I need a good mechanic

Y'know, I'd bet we could help you. Fuel, fire, and compression. You said you checked spark, did you check compression (check your valves as another said, this could be affected)? If compression is good, you've either got a timing issue or a fuel issue. Does it *almost* catch? Electric start model?

Small cruiser = Big/medium standard/sport touring. What gives?

It really isn't particularly relevant when you look at the quote breakdown (only provided when you actually sign up, of course). 70+% of the premium is Accident Benefits; private health insurance essentially.

    ethanol and effects on engine...

Wow, I'm surprised no one mentioned this. Canadian Tire has ethanol-free premium. The sticker that says "may contain up to 10% ethanol" is directly between regular and mid-grade for a reason.

Small cruiser = Big/medium standard/sport touring. What gives?

Heh, I forgot I'd already been quoting with Dalton Timmis, and now called them again. $3500/year for me. Sigh...here's hoping it gets better next year...

Small cruiser = Big/medium standard/sport touring. What gives?

TD MM quoted me I think $3700, and that's with higher deductibles and with an employer 'discount'. Car accident in 2008 (I don't even enter it on the site because it only asks about motorcycle accidents) and a speeding ticket (10 over); conviction was March 2014. Even without that, it's pretty...

Small cruiser = Big/medium standard/sport touring. What gives?

My Vulcan 900 is getting me nice big fat quotes, even though it's only got ~50HP and ~50ftlb of torque. I can get that much power from a much smaller sport bike, and insurance is about the same on a Concours 1000, with over 100hp!! What gives? I'd think a cruiser would implicate the most sedate...

    I recommend Desjardins Insurance

LOOOOOOL $6500 for my Vulcan 900. M2 in March 2013, I'm 23, L1V 7H4, 1 minor ticket in March 2014. Honestly it seems like the more I call around, the higher the quotes get. I should just stop and be happy with what I've got.

    Honda demo ride crash

Damn, so if you drop a bike on a demo ride, are you 100% liable? They should offer like, rental insurance. I'd pay for it.

any ideas were I can get this tool?

    Knee pain when riding

I got this on my GS400 after an hour or so. I'd stand up on the pegs to stretch. Get a cruiser :)
