You're so positive :P
Just do side streets, stick to low speeds and get comfortable with everything. I had always intended to hit up a parking lot, but that went out the window when my first ride over 20 minutes ended up being me having to ride my bike home from Richmond Hill to Mississauga on...
You're making an assumption that not wearing gear makes them cautious. Much like others are making the assumption that gear makes you reckless. The middle ground is being dismissed simply so people can play Devil's advocate in this argument.
Also, to contradict your statement about ATGATT...
Damn, thanks for the reminder. Went out to check my bike and noticed it was leaning too far, sunk about an inch into the ground. No pop cans around the office, guess I'll have to find something else.
Neither did I actually, but my instinct was to think it was turning right because of his movement in the lane. I think we both agree it was the riders fault, regardless of why, the accident was very preventable.
It's easier to generalize and make their lifestyle/point of view the better option. It doesn't matter if you gear up and ride careful or squid it and ride recklessly, it's the person that defines the riding style regardless of what you're wearing. Maybe for some it's a justification to be overly...
Except that video isn't proof of that. He doesn't rear-end the truck, nor does he actually swerve suddenly. Given the distance he had it's very possible he could have stopped just to the left of the truck, but he didn't because the assumption was made (which I made too until the accident...
It all depends. Our system doesn't work like the U.S. legal system in that you can settle for just about anything. Given the defendant has a decent lawyer, it would be a hard sell. In the end your settlement would be nothing and your legal fees would outweigh your winnings.
Of all the things he was doing, following too closely wasn't one of them. It looks like the truck is going to make a right hand turn when he's actually braking because the other truck crept through the intersection and crossed the center line, which is why he would be at fault when it comes to...
For him it is. People around here have mentioned the HTA rules regarding sharing a lane, generally it's unacceptable, but I think there's 2 circumstances where you can. Don't hold me to it though and hopefully someone else can shed light on that.
Of course they still have to win the lawsuit and unless you were drunk or driving erratically, would be a really hard sell. The Canadian legal system is "smart" in that most Judges will hold people accountable for stuff that has implied dangers/risks associated with them, so claiming they didn't...
Probably a combination of motorcycling becoming a bit more popular and people with tight budgets trying to find a cheaper way to get around. There's also the idiot factor. It seems my generation of 20 somethings isn't the brightest.
Some people love to judge others while blissfully ignoring the idiocy of their own actions. Humans being humans. We are imperfect and that's why someone invented statistics.
Hrm, seems like I should have bought a scooter or at least some type of touring bike with space on it. Commuting on this ZZR is painful. Maybe I'll pick grab one for next season to go alongside my XS650 after I ditch the ZZR.
You're too good a shill, MacDoc. Damn you!
Heh, I was waiting for someone to say something about that. I just don't get how else you stay still on a hill if you're not using either brake.. he must be magic.
I've seen some people do it. It's mostly for peace of mind because rolling back in a car terrifies a lot of people, especially...
