I was touching on this in another post yesterday. The issue with the FZ6 is fueling around 5700rpm. Stock, the vibes can be really annoying between 95 & 110kmph. Pipes soften it a bit. +/- a tooth to bring the rpm's up or down to avoid it being right at the GTA's cruising speed. Sand in the...
Well I know the title of the thead is "alternative choice to a VFR", but ...
I've owned a few bikes, and yes, <read some!> 6th gens suffer from a pre-vtec shutter is my best attempt at describing what you are most likely experiencing with your 05. Here's the skinny. I've owned 3 6ths and the...
Get him to transfer the bike into his name, then you're legit. He may have already tried and failed and now wants to pass along the headache to someone else. Ontario is not the deep south. A spit and a handshake is not enough.
Liking the bike, more so that 900. I though don't get the naked thing. I've said it before, head out on a full tour, hit a super-highway during some in-climate weather and let me know why a fairing isn't a good idea.
ZZR250. Same engine, better frame, dirt cheap. A lot of bikes potentially selling are now in storage which limits selection and effects price. Somewhat of a myth that bikes go up in the spring as more bikes competing for your dollar. I'd hang back and wait for the "right" bike. Multiple examples...
Hey Doc - interested in a review of the CBF ownership thus far. I was sooooo close to pulling the trigger on one a couple months back but yet another VFR fell in my lap (again!).
Other than the OP will be keeping his R6. VFR are great for an all-rounder. 2-up they'll do in a pinch, but as a VFR owner I'd be looking for something else.
>= 06 FJR may be a touch beyond you budget but it's a great 2-up ride. MacDoc owns a CBF1000 looking at his sig. It's another option for...
Let's just say you could lose your license on a 400-series highway. The real question is, how long do you plan on riding at 120kmsph. Methinks if that is going to be the main task of the bike, I'd be looking at the ninja 650.
Both where red '06's. I did add Leo Vince & K&N filter to wake them up a bit. Also added an '07 subframe for a little more passenger comfort. The display, subframe & swingarm all changed in '07, but from what I understand the '06 benefited from better fuel mapping.
I've taken a bird out. Nice bike and l-o-n-g. You haven't mentioned helibars or peg blocks yet. Owning a VFR, it is of course a logical set. I would say though that you'll miss the mid-range torque of the bigger motor if moving down to a 650. It is "fun" to ride the smaller bikes, but they can...
Also had an FZ6 - actually 2. Sold the first one and after a few months of trying other bikes, picked one up again for a couple years.
Ultimately I successfully migrated to a VFR and have now owned a few. Stock its ergonomically closer to a sport bike but with added heli-bars is an all-day...
I rent a motorcycle trailer from UHaul at least twice a year. Tie down straps from CT and you are good to go. Even though your SUV has a trailer hitch, make sure you have the wiring. You'd think they come as one option but have seen otherwise.
