Great trip posting. Keep up the good work!

    German Pliers

Add a "vice-grip" lock and we'd have a winner as an accessory tool. I wrench quite a lot - cannot say that I use my adjustable too much as sockets are the way to go. Also, getting at some of the bolts on a bike would not be accessible from the side so you'd still need both if you were carrying...

Transitioning from a cruiser to a sport bike

There are a few nice-looking "sport-touring" bikes in the 600-650 class. They have the advantage of more usable power at legal speeds so to me, they are a little more fun for everyday riding. At 5'3", you have a lot of options as most bike can be lowered for very little money. The FZR has an...

Has anyone done the East Coast trip?

If crossing New Brunswick through Miramichi in June, don't stop or you'll be in danger of being carried away by blackflies! Have done the east coast a couple times. Halifax is amazing; the highlight of the trip and looking forward to returning there one day.

    Chatty driver; weird experience

I've done the psycho cage thing. I followed a guy a km to burrito boys on a Tuesday night to inform him I had just about killed him. Totally unaware! The guy blindly lane-changes into me from stopped traffic (slowed down just in case). Luckily I was looking for him and managed an avoidance. Not...

Sending a Deposit for a Kijiji bike?

Reading more, you want someone to certify the bike for you, with only a Kijiji response to his add - not going to happen - oh, and how were you planning on paying for it, cheque ...

Sending a Deposit for a Kijiji bike?

Totally OK. If you want the seller to hold the bike until you see it, $100.00 is nothing. I probably wouldn't hold it for $100.00 as is not enough. If you are serious, make an effort to see the bike before someone else does; normally setting up an appointment within a day is enough for them to...

    Help a touring newbie out

or ... Head on up to Mt. Tremblant after staying close to the St. Lawrence on 138 & 132, through Ottawa onto #7 and either branch down through Bancroft on 115, or grab 60 and come down 35 at Huntsville. All well travelled. If you stay south from Montreal, lots of nice back roads in the Kingston...

    PIA bikes to work on

The underside of a VFR airbox has more inconvenient hookups than tinder while mall shopping with your kids ... Also, ensuring that a ZZR250 airbox seats onto the carbs is rather tricky.

Found my old bike for sale!

Other than dirt bikes, my first street bike as well. Very rare. Bought mine used from Cycle World Etobicoke in 1978, a month before I was 16 ...

Found my old bike for sale!

I saw my fave bike listed at a dealership. I sold in a weird time so wished to buy it back but they were asking too much and wouldn't budge. A couple years later I saw it listed again on Kijiji, only the owner was listing as stolen from his garage looking for info. It was such a sweet ride. 2000...

    Need a motorcycle safety inspection

Sorry Joe, but are you asking our government to apply some logic? <start of rant!> YTF would someone post the name of an excellent mechanic, who has serviced the needs of many people on this site who choose not to be nailed by dealership shop rates? Grab a brain (mbroyda) and remove his name...

Buy (used) in fall or spring?

Depending on who your policy is with, generally insurance is amortized fully during our biking season from March to September (7 months). You could most likely cover the bike from now until next March for less than 1/7th of your yearly policy and get riding. Still less at the end of the month.

    Sturgis or Daytona?

Attendance to a factor of 10! Been to both 2x over the past 10 years along with Americade & Laconia. Much prefer Sturgis. Many sights, great riding. Unlike most of the other events, there isn't just one main event location were the event is essentially focused (Weir's Beach). You can get get...

"“It’s not the other vehicle you need to worry about.”" - Halton POlice

Well doc, stopped traffic, volatile in/out area, inside lane, lane splitting, still traveling at speed ... not exactly defensive driving so although the car is totally at-fault, I think I'd have to check the box for motorcycle driver error as should have been somewhat preventable.

    Good deeds while riding

As in, both feet down, sitting on the seat totally leaning over looking at the side of the engine - like that'll fix it!

    Good deeds while riding

Just being in the right place at the right time with the right equipment. Dropping my bike off at the shop with a trailer. On my way home via 401 traveling at speed in the middle lane and a few guys in front of me lock up. It's all I can do to follow suit and we're all in a predicament as cars...

    Transitions

I thought we'd all gone liberal, and you were inquiring the proper process to transition from one gender to another ... As for gravel, as straight and steady as possible is my advice - now gravel on top of pavement in the middle of a turn, well that's hang-on and brace for impact!

    Been thinking about a Harley...

Tough call always to jump bike genres. I did the opposite as started on a cruiser as thought there's no way I'd be responsible enough on a 100hp screamer. A few years later I departed from the cruiser and hopped into sport/sport-touring. I've since tried a few times to make the transition back...
