What' your favorite road to ride?

Route Napoleon. Did this in 2010 2-up with my wife (then fiancee) from Grenoble into Nice. Absolutely stunning views, endless switchbacks and so much fun I wanted to double back and do it all over again! (although at 3+ hours to do one way, there was not enough time.) Planning on a return...

    TMP for sale?

A pass is the responsibility of the person doing the passing, so as long as everyone knows and stick to the rules there shouldn't be any incidents. Just ride your ride and let the faster pilots find their way around you. However, that also means the organizer needs to make sure people follow...

How did you get into it?

Hey Grimmy, good new and bad news: your old 600 is making a comeback, I'm bringing it to RACE this summer. But I'm running Pirelli's :)

    Racing and Trackday Insurance

I recently set myself up with insurance for this specific purpose. Unfortunately, in Canada there is no specific track day coverage for new policies, so the only option is to find insurance that doesn't have exclusions. One way of doing this is to get critical illness insurance of a given...

    Richard TPC Clear your Inbox!

Thank you :p BTW, the bike in my avatar, and your old ride, is returning to the RACE circuit this year! Competing in Sportsman Middleweight and another Novice category, as yet to be determined! Did I see correctly that 2 riders last year had laptimes of Shannonville Long at under 1'55"? And...

    Nike undergear on sale

Before I start, I'll qualify that I almost finished my PhD in Kinesiology before returning to the real world (the ivory tower was giving me a nose bleed). I've helped in research papers that looked at improving blood flow from the extremities to the heart. They were either G-suits or...

    Engine ice

Relax. To my knowledge, the only TD organizer that specifically allows Engine Ice is Pro6. The others appear to be ambiguous, but it's common sense to find that out ahead of time. I would suspect they'd be o.k. with it. But I'm interested in knowing how you think you are getting away with...

    Engine ice

You only have to crash once to mess up everyone else's day, or worse.

    Random track visits

You might want to consider a track day provider that has experienced riders leading beginners around the track. Pro6 has a very organized system, but so too does Riders Choice. I've done RC's track days for years and they are great for beginners. Their days are also a smaller event with an...

Thinking of getting back on a motorcycle!

You now have a lot more responsibility, but if you are comfortable taking the risk of your old equipment, you'll do it regardless of what anyone here says. Problem with the helmet is there's no way to know until you test it the hard way. I stepped away from riding for about the same amount of...

Corrosion of Track Bike Engines running only water?

No problems with my 02 GSXR 600 that has 30+K kms and has been a dedicated track/race bike for about 8 years. However, in off-season have changed water with coolant that has anti-corrosion additives. Could be overkill, but cheap insurance nonetheless.

Anyone skipping trackdays the yesr due to $$$?

Damn I wish I could get my track budget down to $4K/year... Sometimes a break is good, lots of time to wrench on the machine and bring it back better than ever!

    Motorcycle repairs courses

I can vouch for the Centennial program, definitely a great way to go: http://db2.centennialcollege.ca/ce/certdetail.php?CertificateCode=7825 The main instructor is Scotty from Snow City Cycle. Scotty is a great guy, loads of experience and very good at including individual interests in his...

    racing suit material

My brother-in-law has one of these suits, it has great construction and the warranty is fantastic. Hasn't crash tested it (can't wear it on a track up here) but the information on the site looks pretty impressive...

Whoa! Free Stuff from Corsa Meccanica to get the season started!

Hey has anyone come across this? http://www.facebook.com/CorsaMeccanica It's a photo contest that Corsa Meccanica has going on right now. I'm not sure if they are on GTAM to give more details, but it looks like it could be a lot of fun to see what gets posted. And the prizes are pretty...

    Track Dayz state side

Yes, both RiderSurance and Atlas (http://www.hccmis.com/atlas-travel-insurance-coverage/) look great if you are traveling to the US, but for coverage up here there still are no options. Atlas looks like travel medical and some life insurance to pay for getting you to a hospital and sorted...

    Track Dayz state side

Update. I have been swinging at this one for several months now, and there is no specialty coverage in Ontario for track day personal injury insurance as it once was. The Lloyds Group offers Disability Insurance Coverage that specifically includes racing/track days (they do not differentiate...

Yup, some Flat Track Roller Derby leagues do this since they play on a concrete floor too. Back when my wife was my girlfriend we coached a team in Toronto.

    cable lube kit?

Lol, OK I was expecting that.. :) Stainless steel only corrodes under specific conditions, and they are not likely to occur inside the sheath. Here's an interesting page about it: http://www.bssa.org.uk/topics.php?article=95 Hence the reason I've been insistent on this topic, and I'm not the...
