    Everyone's Favourite Subject Leather Suits!

Couldn't agree more with your statements, JB. Just just clarifying I don't think a suit that can justify multiple repairs is necessarily a better one. Just because I can buy a suit for $500 that is all leather and I can keep getting patches over where it gets ground through, doesn't make it...

Just got my track boots... and holy cow....

Perhaps, well it started as the one you could purchase at the dealer, and then when you trade out for all the race parts the only thing left that was stock was probably the key. I'm sure it's not across the board, but some gear is known to be the same regardless of level. The Arai Corsair V...

Just got my track boots... and holy cow....

No, actually it is marketed as "the same boot that Valentino Rossi wears". As with the AGV Pista, Arai Corsair, Dainese Team suit and some other brands, they are the same equipment as the top level. For someone with so many questions, you sure have a lot of opinions. Too bad none of them are...

Just got my track boots... and holy cow....

They are the same boots used by Dainese racers in MotoGP/Moto2 and are hand made in Italy. Actually I believe the only boot Dainese still manufactures in the mother land... so yeah, they are safe. I wear its predecessor. Survived two crashes and still going strong. Actually the only reason I...

    Everyone's Favourite Subject Leather Suits!

OK, just in case there are people following the thread who aren't familiar - to get out of a one-zipper suit (down the middle). Unzip the front zipper down the middle all the way. Unzip one arm cuff. Have a buddy stand beside you and grab the sleeve at the cuff with both hands. Bend forward...

    Everyone's Favourite Subject Leather Suits!

Hi John, Will get to some comments later... but that is very interesting stuff. You seriously really need to write it up and send it into one of the major magazines, I think this topic is something we are all interested in knowing more about.

What did you do to your Race/Track Bike today - 2014

Re: What did you do to your Race/Track Bike today - 2015 Put it on a dyno first and look for any tell-tale signs that it even needs considering. Agree with the other post, check valve clearances, do a leak down and if it's all good then keep riding as is.

    Everyone's Favourite Subject Leather Suits!

Dainese owns its own production factories, although two are in different countries than Italy. They still produce their highest level gear at home, and I believe all of their tanning and leather QC occurs in Italy as well, which probably has a lot to do with their prices. Not sure I agree with...

What did you do to your Race/Track Bike today - 2014

Re: What did you do to your Race/Track Bike today - 2015 You already had those jobs, as well as full time cook, driver, crew, sponsor, and racer. What, you getting lazy or something?

    race leathers in "tall" sizes

Dainese's proprietary "S1" fabric is used in their "non-impact areas" to help improve fit and flow air better than perforated leather. But, I agree John, it's no substitute for leather. I'm not sure what it is made of, however there is a video of Brian from SportBikeTrackGear, in which he...

    race leathers in "tall" sizes

The Dainese Alien Leather pants come in long and short sizes, but they don't have knee sliders. None of the race suits come in different lengths, but they do come in different fits. The Laguna Seca Pro Evo is considered a "thin" fit, and the Racing Pelle comes in a wider torso. That may allow...

What back protectors are you guys using?

That's the way the edges normally look, when it's cut the aluminum honeycomb isn't "finished", probably to not affect its crumple performance. The main body of the honeycomb looks fine to me, if it was done then there would be dents showing where it was crushed from an impact. I didn't know...

Have you guys got your track bikes inspected by cops?

If the bike hasn't been listed as "stolen", then this really shouldn't be necessary, don't you think? Keep the ownership along with your bill of sale as proof. Costs nothing.

Roll Call - Mosport Next Week

I think it's only Shannonville that let's you raincheck your day if you don't like the weather, but then again it's their own track. The organizer pays for the track as long as management keeps the track open, which is regardless of weather unless there is lightning. Weather report said...

    Track day tires.

I used these on my 2002 GSXR600 and now on my 09 GSXR750. Night and day from the /55. Tips it a bit on its nose, but I felt it actually improved handling, as well as drive out of the corners. If you are riding it well enough to notice you are pushing the front (which is basically AM600 podium...

What do you use on your leather suit?

Do any of you bother cleaning the *inside* of the leather suit? Mine has a removable/washable liner and I always wear a PUG undersuit, which catches a lot of the sweat and salt, but it's obvious that some still makes its way through. Time for a soak in the tub?

Looking to rent Workshop / Garage space in Toronto? (possibly shared)

A few years ago I kept my bike etc. at All Canadian Storage on Laird near Millwood. They are a drive in facility, which is a bonus because they will allow you to run your motor inside. Most storage places won't. Down side is that if you needed power you needed to use your own generator. Plus...

    RACE Round 1 - May 16-17

As soon as you win a Novice 600 race, you are automatically graduated into AM with no opportunity to run Novice again. Shaman, nice results! Two podiums. At this rate you'll have black numbers by Thursday, lol.

    Spidi Custom Suits

Those Spidis are nice, but there's no choice on suit type other than the hyde. Starting at about the same money you could have a choice of about 4 models from Dainese, measured by one of their own tailors. They come to Toronto (Riders Choice) every October.
