Also consider that the quality of the gas may effect mileage. A few years back 3 us headed up the James Bay road to Radisson and our mileage dropped noticably - not sure what else could have effected all 3 bikes.
The majority were 1.9. I know that's a number everyone places great importance on but I havn't spent enough time at the track to understand the signifigance.
Out to St Thomas last Sunday for test & tune. Started at noon and just kept looping back until they quite around 4. Managed 25 passes.
Pretty happy with a best time of 13.0 considering last years best run was 13.6 (bone stock motored 82 Goldwing)
12 something is within reach.......
12-13 hrs 700-1000kms sounds about right.
Cheap, comfy and light. It's been with me for over a decade so not sure why you'd thinks it's flimsy. But don't let me stop you from buying a more expensive chair because it popular on some website. Whatever floats your boat.
I don't mean to be callous but riders die every day somewhere, just like people in cars. That's just a fact of life.
What's the good of bringing it up here?
No one posts when a car crash turns fatal. Unless you knew these people personally they're just another statistic. Let it go and move on.
Maybe you're too fussy or not riding far enough. At the end of the day my 15$ crappy tire special is all I need. It's been a faithful companion for well over a decade.
Did you check out the awesome abandoned house in Coudersport? Old weathered clapboard with a 4 story square tower. Right out of the Adams Family.
Also if you're in Coudersport you can't be more than 20kms from the Austin dam sight. Built in 1909 it broke 3 years later and flooded the valley...
The Wing is an 86. I got it with about 62 or 65 on it. Now it only has just over 5. This is the 4th summer.
I bought it to do long trips with the Squeeze and that's where most of the miles come from - Mission accomplished.
No worries. I strap the hockey bag down with cam buckles straps nice and tight. The case just gets pushed into the bed roll and tent which are soft.
I only got the uke this past xmas so I'm still learning but I am having a ball with it. The two other guys I rode to Thompson with also had...
My Wing turned a 100,000kms coming back from Thompson in August. (I know that's only 60,0000 miles but it sounds like a neat milestone)
I heard that you can get a pin or something from Honda if you provide them with photos/proof. Anyone know if this is true? My google search was unsuccessful...
Thermorests are supposed to be self inflating. I open the valve on mine and leave it a few minutes then just a couple of breaths to firm it up. Mine is full width but doesn't extend much below the knee. I sleep like a baby on it - but in truth I don't remember ever crashing on it without a few...
Didn't realize this thread was dated. I wanted to suggest 125 south from Shamokin - you will not be dissapointed. I would have also suggested going a little east of Shamokin to take in the ghost town of Centrailia - be sure to find the remains of the abandoned interstate. You can feel the heat...
This is not true at all.
This summer me and two buddies travelled to Thompson Manitoba. Of 8 nights only two were spent in hotels. I was riding a Goldwing (the other bikes were a Triumph Sprint and a Suzi Bandit).
In the past we stealth/rough/vagrant camped on our way to James Bay, the Bikers...

You can pick up 19 pretty much at the pa/wv border or at Morgantown. But trust me you will not be forgoing the the twisties. You can catch 16 when it crosses 19 just south of the New River.
