ok, this thread is long and i was too lazy to read it all so i apoligize if what i am about to say has already been mentioned.
I used to be one of those who thought that my time was more important and i ride up the shoulder of the highway but when my biike picked up a broken nail in my back...
i had my rear go flat on the DVP south just past bayview bloor a few years back. rear end of the bike started swinging back and forth quite violently (i was doing about 120 when it happened)...slowed down, put my 4 ways on and slowly inched over to the right shoulder (was in the left lane when...

great thread! I love seeing how well maintained some of these old bikes are so i thought i'd add mine to the mix...she's 10 years young and my love affair with her grows every time i go for a ride!
i did a 650km solo loop a few weeks back through similar roads and it took me about 8 hours with 3 stops. i'm going again this weekend so maybe we'll cross paths
my bike's in the shop or else i'd lead a ride up north...did a northern run solo a few weeks back up the 507 and across 118, 550km day and it was wicked!

i started with an HJC and then went to a RF 1000. The Shoei fits me a lot better and the fit / finish is second to none...after 2 seasons and 30000 kms, the Shoei looks brand new, 2 seasons with my HJC and it looked like 10 seasons. i really like the removable liners in the Shoei too
