adjust your idle... sub 1k is too low for a sport bike. I have mine around 1300-1500. If you still have problems afterwards clean/change your spark plugs. If you dont know when they were changed last then just change them they're not that expensive.
you guys are waiting way too long for this warm-up... 5 minutes is just wasting fuel. I usually watch the temp gauge and once it registers I'm off. Lately I don't even do that.. turn it on, gear up, and ride out slowly.. your engine doesnt need that much time to get to healthy operating temp...
The string that was used is apparently prohibited in Toronto.. but you can still buy it online and have it shipped to you. I think there should be a limit on the length of line people use so if their string breaks they can find it.
Glad you're 'ok' and really happy to hear you weren't...
False. Sounds like you're misfiring, check your spark plugs and blow some throttle cleaner in. Those lights come on because your key is in the ignition to 'on' and the bike isnt running... not because your temp is too high.
edit:
"After about three seconds the "HI" goes away and it shows the...
I have nothing bad to say about them. Went there to get my bike certified and the shop guys (not sure who it was) told me it wouldn't certify because of a few things I had to change and didn't charge me for looking at it. Then I bought something at the spring show that went on sale right...
this is tricky. If a valve broke you'd DEFINITELY hear that clanging off the piston while running. If you DIDNT hear that then I doubt it's a broken valve. You could do a compression test to see if you've actually lost compression and in that case I'd say take it in. If you've ridden it...
Also, I assume it starts first try when it's cold though. I disagree with you Red_liner as the chain would have also expanded when warm making the tensioner expansion negligible. This sounds like an ignition problem.. I wouldnt say the starter since the bike is already warm and the battery...
If it stumbles when you choke it that means it's running at a fine mixture... it'll rise when you open the throttle cause you're allowing it to breathe again.
This problem is starting to sound electrical... if your gauges aren't working properly either then you may have some electrical issues...
does anyone actually know why there is this supposed "break-in period"? It's all BS to save them money. If you push the limits of the engine and parts fail, they have to replace them under warranty. Pull out and ride it hard... if there's a weak part or seal that's going to fail, riding it...
