    Failing to stop

Gixxer_flexx, every time someone runs, it's a new investigation. They are never identical, and each case has intricacies that set it apart from the one before it. I've had riders that are identifiable by their facial features, even with a full-face helmet. I've had riders that because of their...

    Failing to stop

Here you go: Definition, "stunt" 3. For the purposes of section 172 of the Act, "stunt" includes any activity where one or more persons engage in any of the following driving behaviours: 1. Driving a motor vehicle in a manner that indicates an intention to lift some or all of its tires...

    Failing to stop

Sorry to disappoint, I'm not building a database of bikes in the GTA. Wasn't fishing, just trying to start some dialogue. On my last nightshift I saw a pair of bikes as a result of a traffic complaint about them racing, and I couldn't get near them to even look at their plates. I was going to...

    Failing to stop

I think only the +50, weaving through traffic or lane splitting would be considered stunt. The others are urban myths. For the poster who asked where that case was from, it was in York.

    Failing to stop

I was going to post this on one of the other threads, but I thought it would be better if it had it's own. From what I've seen, if a motorcyclist wants to run from the police, they will, and they will get away. They are faster than anything the police have, except for a radio, but we don't...

Goose Attack, Now we have Geese to Worry about

I'm not familiar with any using the sportster, I would suspect that picture is American, maybe New York? Or another State with a blue helmet?

Goose Attack, Now we have Geese to Worry about

Interesting thread. Our gear consists of a solid leather jacket, no reflective piping, no vents, a 3/4 helmet with no shield, safety glasses, patent leather knee high boots with no ankle support, thin leather gauntlet gloves, and wool riding breeches. When on an escort, the guys will wear as...

    Opp motorcycle cop down.

Pete is a friend, and as mentioned, a Golden Helmet rider. I did that escort training in 2010 and am well aware of the type of riding that is required. It sounds like a freak accident that could have affected any one of us, from any police service that runs escorts. My thanks to those who...

Riding a bike without license plate sticker?

Careful with that one... owner could be charged, and SHOULD be charged with "owner permit operation of a motor vehicle on a highway without contract of insurance". Same $5000 fine. For many reasons, this is not a good idea, not worth the risk just to try out someone's bike.

    Vehicle Registration Conundrum

On the face of it, it sounds like you just paid money for a bike that someone else still owns. Easiest way out of this one is to get your money back, if you can. What if that bike is reported stolen? If you're set on keeping it, get in touch with the seller to see if they can complete the...

OPP have a message for you.

Carboncat - statute of limitations depends on the charge. 30 days under HTA for Part 1, 6 months for HTA under Part 3, criminal stuff I would have to look up - never tested that one before, possibly depends on the charge - see historical sex assaults as an example of one with no limitation...

Accessible Parking Permet - HTA S27(1)(b)

While that is usually referred to as void for duplicity, courts in York Region were asking that the charge be laid under both sections initially, so they could drop the stunt on a plea. Later the courts were allowing an amendment to just the speeding charge. We were never given that direction...

Stolen motorcycle on test drive tonight. June-14- 10 pm

Do not handle that envelope with bare hands anymore. There is a process for lifting prints off of paper. Give the envelope to the police with the instructions that there may be some fingerprints on it. If the person is on file, that may be the best evidence that you have.

OPP have a message for you.

I have not known prosecutors to agree to proceed on a charge where insufficient evidence exists. I can't speak for the officer as I don't know what he saw. I don't know that intersection that you describe. Also, as you have alluded to in your story, you weren't there to see it either. I'm not...

OPP have a message for you.

Sorry I didn't see your post. I suspect we were posting at the same time. I know that there have been abuses of this law, the obvious example already having been quoted in this thread. I wonder how it would affect the use of the section if the towing and impound were run differently.

Lack of knowledge or training on behalf of the officer to be able to distinguish between the two, perhaps?

OPP have a message for you.

I wish I could show you what I mean. Here's one example: Take a look at the speeding part of this section - +50km constitutes the offence. On a highway with a speed limit of 100km, when the laser says 151, you're there. Is that not obvious? Granted there is the argument of acceptable error with...

OPP have a message for you.

From what I've seen, when it's a 172 violation it's usually pretty obvious. And if I'm to turn a blind eye to what I've witnessed, what good am I doing anyone? I'm sure that the last drunk police officer that I dealt with would have appreciated a look the other way too.

Port Dover Friday the 13th 9:30 Ride June 13th 2014 (not Hwy 6 route)

The weather was perfect, it only rained a little in the a.m. Did everyone remember to wave at the friendly traffic control officer at Main and Walker?
