    USB on bike

Can anyone tell me if I hardwire a USB/12v to my battery on my bike if that will always drain the battery? If I went into the front light would that solve the issue? (Once I figure out how the heck to do that) Or does anyone know someone who installs these at a reasonable rate? Thanks

    Rear Brake issue

The shop that did the safety is pretty far from me. I will just suck it up and deal with it. About the time I get it back my M2 upgrade is ready. Still have September and maybe even October the way the weather has been the last few years. Got a lifetime of riding now ahead of me. Trade up from...

How should i pick up the bike i am buying?

This is a great idea. I bought a bike recently and didn't do this and now my bike is sitting for a month waiting on parts to repair things due to not checking out the bike and a poor safety. If buying used, get someone to check it out to make sure its mechanically sound.

    Rear Brake issue

Very good point. Update....parts needed are on back order from Yamaha. Apparently they are the only ones you can order the part from in Canada...so now my bike that I just bought, I won't be able to ride until at least Aug 23rd or so. So very frustrated in the process and mad that I will miss...

    Rear Brake issue

Thanks for the suggestions. Small claims court is not worth it from my experience. Some of this I take some blame for as I should have done a little more research into the bike and safety procedures. It seemed odd to me at the time he was doing the safety that he was simply just walking around...

    Rear Brake issue

Update. Apart from a bolt in backwards on the tension rod,the work I did was fine. The brake adjusting lever however is stripped and needs to be replaced. Also there is a wiring harness falling down under the rear fender hitting the wheel, the horn is not attached and needs to be replaced, and...

yeah, going to check online for one. I imagine it would be cheaper that way. About to spend enough on the repair I am sure.

    Rear Brake issue

Did a re-adjustment, still wouldn't tighten enough to engage the breaks. Admitted defeat and took to ready powersports as its just up the street from me and I could easily ride there with the front breaks. Asked the tech to let me know how close I was and where I went wrong. All a learning...

    Rear Brake issue

I had tightened it pretty far. I will give that a try again tomorrow.

    Rear Brake issue

Ok. I was almost really proud of myself. Tension bar re-installed. Old cable is out, new cable is on and I triple checked it was correct. However when I press down on the brakes, although the cable stuff moves, the brakes don't engage. Any chance that when the cable snapped, something inside...

not knowing enough about the mechanics of bikes I relied heavily on the guy that did my safety and repairs. I won't be taking it back to that guy anytime soon. Lesson learned.

    Rear Brake issue

hmmm. Now I am not sure I have all the parts I need to complete the repair. I ordered the rear brake cable, bolt and nuts for the tension rod for where it came out, and then a new tension rod...don't recall the cotter pin being ordered. Hopefully parts come in tomorrow and I can go from there on...

    Rear Brake issue

Thanks for the offer. I really appreciate it. I actually have CAA...it's how I got the bike towed home. I actually want to attempt to do the repair myself. Part of the reason I bought a smaller bike to begin with was not only to learn to ride safe, but to also learn how to do my own work on the...

Not 100% sure to be honest. I can maybe check pictures to see, but don't know off the top of my head.

    Rear Brake issue

Yeah, not sure what to say. The guy is not close to me at all and if they had been a little closer I would have taken it back to him. Kinda disappointed over all as the back break was sticking before the safety and that is one thing he adjusted. Not sure it was a "thorough" safety.

It does indeed man. Owned the bike for less than a month, but this will be a good learning experience if I can pull off this repair myself.

I think your right. I went to the Yamaha dealer today in Oakville and ordered the parts I needed. Very nice guys and super helpful. When the parts come in I shall attempt the repair myself.

    Rear Brake issue

I have been trying to resolve it, but no success and then tonight the rear brake cable snapped and a support bar (I think that's what it is) also had the bolt fall out. Pictures below of the issue. Anyone know how hard a repair this is? Can a rookie mechanic take this on if I can find the parts...

Oh Cool! Great to know! I really would like to learn as much as I can on this smaller bike before I upgrade my bike when I get my full M.
