    How to prevent helmet hair!?

Some helmets are better than others. I get worse helmet head with my modular than I do with my full face. Both are Sharks, so I have no idea why. At work, water, paper towel and hand fluff in the washroom works on the little I have left. I usually carry a water bottle, and micro fibre cloth...

    Ganaraska

The last 2 years, Ganny agreed to open Saturday April 30 in 2016 & Saturday & Sunday April 29 & 30 2017 because May 1st was so close to the weekend and the trails were in better shape. This year, given that SCORRA and others have delayed, I'm just happy they didn't delay past May 1st.

    Auxiliary or fog lights recommendations

I just picked up a set of these Denali, but haven't installed them yet. http://www.twistedthrottle.ca/denali-d2-2-0-trioptic-led-light-kit-with-datadim-technology I like that you can change the lenses and use one for distance and one for spread.

Possibly buying a Z1000! If you have one, post a pic!

Haven't ridden the Z900, but given the drop in weight & price compared to the Z1000, I'd seriously look at the 900 today. My only point is that you shouldn't generalize about all in-line 4s. When the N1k came out, I remember seeing dyno charts comparing it to the ZX10R. The N1k had more...

Possibly buying a Z1000! If you have one, post a pic!

Just curious, have either of you guys actually ridden a Z1000? I've got 86k kms on a Ninja 1000, and have ridden a friend's Z1000. There is definitely no issue with mid-range torque, and above 6000, it will stretch your arms. The Z is a little more nimble than the N1k, but both feel nicely...

[ Tipped bike alert ] Simcoe near king 2018-04-20

This is the first time I've ever been confused with a taco. Lol. Street View shows that the bike lane was added and parking moved away from the curb between April & September 2014.

[ Tipped bike alert ] Simcoe near king 2018-04-20

Damn! Since they moved the parking away from the curb for the bicycle lane, I've felt that my bike was more vulnerable. I hope this doesn't become an ongoing problem.

    Flip down sun visor

Both my Shark Evoline 3 (modular) and Speed R (full face) are DOT & ECE, and have drop-down sun visors.

    Flip down sun visor

Years back my Shark Evoline 2 took a direct hit on the chin bar. Vent plastic broke off, but the chin bar stayed in place and did its job. Could still rotate perfectly afterwards. It was ECE rated. The main visor broke off and I couldn't even find it. I was thankful for the sun shield as it...

    Flip down sun visor

I have them on my modular and full face street helmets (both Sharks) and love them. In cold weather, you can get fog on the drop down. A pin lock on the main visor will keep it clear, but does not prevent the drop down from fogging.

    DIY motorcycle shop. good deal?

Only you can say if it is a good value. How much are your annual maintenance expenses on your 2 bikes? How much do you estimate that you will save on labour if you did it yourself there? Do you have a home option alternative where you could instead spend $700 a year on tools, break even cost...

    TrapTap

Waze is too distracting, and won't work for me on a bike as I keep my cell in my pocket with only my Zumo mounted on the bars. TrapTap is expensive for what it is, and hasn't built up its network of users yet (and may not). Hopefully it will be successful enough for Waze to buy them out and...

Supermoto track days at Grand Bend In 2018

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out to see if this happens or not, but don't count on me scharf1, if you're looking for a committed group as a base number. I'll be moving this summer, and until that's done, my time commitments are one day at a time.

Supermoto track days at Grand Bend In 2018

Thanks, I understand. I thought about combining it with a track day for the first part of the day, but I'm an upper green group rider and don't want to get caught up in the aggressive tactics of an open practice the day before a race. And it would be 3 1/2 hrs each way for 2 hrs of track time...

Supermoto track days at Grand Bend In 2018

Sounds tempting. I've got a WR250X with both an SM & dirt set up. I'd love to learn proper SM technique too. Taking a Friday off will be more likely in late summer. Can't commit to anything now, but will watch to see if you can make this happen. Any chance of making it a full day, and not...

Ride in today's (Fri) weather: light snow, 1°C?

I drove my cage and was down on Camden St downtown this morning. There was a GS800 parked, and a guy parking an older standard. Both bikes were parked there when I parked my bike on windy Wednesday. Today was beyond my limit (having had a previous bad experience with snow). Those guys are nuts!

    Wind and motorcycles

Never had it blown over parked, but I have had strong enough wind to shake the bike and set off the tilt sensor alarm. Taking off the top box helps. Riding home yesterday I had a wind coming off an apartment shift me over about 2 feet across a streetcar track. Glad it didn't push me into the...
