Ride Report - Is it Canada Day yet?

Nice long run Shane. Glad your stator didn't start dying causing you to have to limp back to with 200 km of home to get your free CAA tow.

    What should be the price?

Don't expect a deal from Ready. They had a new 2015 Versys 1000 that they priced all in much higher than I was able to negotiate for a 2017 demo outside of town. My impression is that they're big enough to be able to wait until someone willing to pay their price comes along. I guess someone...

Motorcycle Parking Fee 2015 – Response Coordination Thread

Nothing on the July 10 agenda. That is the last Public Works and Infrastructure Committee meeting before the summer and election break, so we should be good for a while. Happy riding and parking everyone!

    Riding Dunlop Q3+ tires?

I've done 2 track days on Q3+, no cracking or splitting. I mounted them myself, so no damage during mounting.

    Lane filtering might become legal....

Wow, my Councilor Gary Crawford, the same Councilor who just got a 40 kph police revenue zone approved along Kingston Rd between Victoria Park and Birchmount, seconded this. But don't get your hopes up too much yet. This is just a motion from a couple councilors to get City Bureaucrats to...

    Motorcycle theft?

Quote of the day! And, as a former V-Strom owner, I can say that. ;-)

Get into Motorcycles now or wait until I move back to Calgary?

Get it now, before you move back in with your parents. Makes it harder for them to say "no, not while you're living in my house". ;-)

    American boycott

Although I expect to be having more time to ride in the near future, I have little desire to travel in the US. We've met a lot of really nice intelligent Americans while travelling abroad, but people who actually get out and explore the world are less likely to accept the racist, f..k the rest...

    Track Riders Who Quit Street

Started track riding by doing Fast in 2012. Did Racer 5 courses and a couple endurance races, then did Pro6 Calabogie last year, all on rental bikes. Took the plunge last fall and picked up a track dedicated bike. I have no intention of giving up street riding. I'll be semi-retiring soon, so...

I think I want to be a vigilante

Anything with a Toyota or Lexus badge is going to be slow off the line and may not look changing lanes. Same with Honda CRVs.

Loud horns (often but not always) save lives, ... if you see them and hit the horn just as they're starting their dick move. Had a guy do that to me yesterday when the car in front signaled and stopped to wait to turn left into a driveway from the inside lane. Guy swerved right in front of me...

is it worht it getting a 1000cc SS for the street?

But accelerating to place yourself ahead of traffic is much safer than sitting in someone's blind spot. Just don't wheelie or drop the clutch at 5000 just to do it.

It's not the track....don't bunch up.

So what if you're leaned over to the edge of your tire, and you find that the blind corner you're on has a decreasing radius, or an oncoming car starts to drift over the line, or there's a dead raccoon on your line, and you need to counter steer a little more to tighten it up? If you're hanging...

is it worht it getting a 1000cc SS for the street?

^This ^ When I was looking a few years ago, I remember seeing torque and power curves for the Ninja 1000 & Z1000 that were slightly better in the lower and mid range compared to a ZX10R. The ZX10R only blew those bikes away in the upper rev range, which you wouldn't really be able to use on...
