+1. When i did my M test, i went the posted speed regardless if people were passing me or not. But on the highway i went with the traffic (was rush hour though...).
My belief is, if you cant afford the hobby with upfront cash, its not the right hobby. Motorcycling is a hobby for me, it is not my daily commuter. I understand there are people who use it as a daily commuter but as i said, its my belief and opinion.

Like i said, Soft inquires do not hurt your record. Only hard ones do.
Only the credit history is free. Credit score is different. And checking your credit score/history will not affect your score. They are counted as soft inquires and do not count. Applying for credit card, loan, etc are hard inquires and they affect your score.
