What's Your Temperature Cut-Off For Riding?

Source: http://web.uvic.ca/~eos340/wind_chill.pdf As a quick reference.

Whos at fault if a pedestrian jumps in front of your car/bike?

Personally, if someone walked in front of my car carelessly and I killed them, and were seen to be NOT at fault... the last thing on my mind would be to want to sue the estate to get my damages back. They paid for their mistake with their life, and I would be the harbinger of that. I wouldn't...

    Lane splitting/passing

Re: Filtering I don't find filtering to be cutting in line, or rude, or selfish. Do people get upset at cyclists filtering through stopped traffic? If they do they're a bunch of selfish pricks. Each mode of transportation has its pros and cons. Two wheels should be able to filter in a safe...

Opinion: Do you use your rear brake when emergency braking?

Also matters on different surfaces as I have found out... I now hate riding between street car tracks as the cement is very smooth and I once locked up the rear on a wicked skid while emergency braking. Some dude hit the cross walk lights and just started walking without looking. He finally...

    Calculating taxes/duties at the border

Piece of advice, never lie at the border, in my opinion it's worse than a stunting or DUI ticket - not worth it. I've gone through the border coming back to Canada declaring certain things that I don't have exception for (i.e. 3 bottles of 750ml whiskey) while gone for 3 weeks in another...

    Killarney highway 637

There's a stretch of about 5-10km of gravel road currently on highway 637 (September 2011), though I've been seeing loads of riders do it. In case anyone who's scared of the stuff wanted to do a fish & chips run, thought you should know. :) (I was in my cage going camping & hiking)

    Lane splitting/passing

I've asked this before and got a positive answer, but how about this scenario: dead-still traffic, cars parked in the right lane, and taking the left tire track of the right lane at a slow pace all the way up Kingston from Queen to Main St... link I did this once during the jazz festival...

    Getting around traffic

I've contemplated this when there's lots of unexpected construction downtown.

500km solo trip in Muskoka this weekend - need advice

Here's my revised route, most revisions are on the western part: 1) Take Ravenscliffe (edit, like previous post) 2) Do a lap around McDougall & Hurdville - it's awesome and empty!! I was there 2 weeks ago. 3) Take southwood rd (edit, added foreman rd to this as per previous post). I did...

    Day Time Running Lights

Aside from the legal requirements, as a driver (and rider), I can see you better if you have your lights on, even on the brightest day of the year at noon, and even more so when the sun is low enough to blind east bound traffic going to work, and west bound traffic going home. This is why it's...

    what would you do..

Don't drive without a valid license, the risk is not worth the effort. Ask yourself, can you afford an expired license ticket AND the insurance implications? Get your priorities straight and handle your biz. There will be many races in the future.

    Rider dies in etobicoke

R.I.P. Rider. My girlfriend freaked because she thought it was me based on minimal information from her sis, e.g. "a motorcyclist died today". Can't imagine what the family's going through. :(

Parking and courtesy to other drivers?

A lot of people have absolutely no clue about how laws, rules, and road etiquette apply to motorcycles and often times will take out their anger on you because they think they're in the right.

    Road Rage

I never get road rage, never in the 15 years of driving that I've done, or the few years of motorcycle riding. "Rage" denotes losing emotional control, if you're behind the wheel it is not in anyone's interest to lose any sort of control because some dumb ***** cuts you off or is pulling...

Suzuki Demo Ride @ Brampton Powersports - July 16, 2011

Hence I said... Look I'm not trying to start a fight here, and I did not doubt your insurance or safety, but the reason I asked the question was that on the most beautiful day, being the most careful, some dummy sipping on a latte can still cut you off or slam into you and ruin your day...

Suzuki Demo Ride @ Brampton Powersports - July 16, 2011

Only took 2 posts, I was waiting for a comment like this. I'm assuming you ride without insurance because nothing would ever happen to you and you're a perfect rider and everyone else who drives around you never drives drunk or texts or is careless or tailgates am i rite?

Suzuki Demo Ride @ Brampton Powersports - July 16, 2011

Interesting... but wouldn't that entail paying for the whole bike if it gets written off? Is there no insurance? I've never been on a demo ride and I know for a fact I (and probably 90% of everyone else) would baby a bike and ride extra careful, but the whole point of insurance is that...

Suzuki Demo Ride @ Brampton Powersports - July 16, 2011

Theoretical question (and I know a few people are curious but don't want to ask)... What happens if you get into an accident while on this demo ride? What happens? a) If it's your fault? b) If it's the other person's fault?

    Rad re-coring / fixing shops?

Anyone know of a place in the GTA, preferably Btown or downtown area that fixes motorcycle radiators? Trying to find something that I can get to without taking time off work is a pain in the ***. Thank you...
