    Cross country trip with covid?

Just to add, yes travel in general can be a very social activity for majority of people. But there's some of us who are lone wolves (i hope more than me at least) bikers that it's more of a bike hobby so it's not same as going to Cancun with your family. If that makes any sense. So for most...

    Cross country trip with covid?

I think you're right in a sense that's an interesting discussion we can have here. But like I said, I don't think there's anything morally wrong with a solo motorcycle trips. You're not creating more exposure than by living your daily life, unless you work from home and never leave the house...

    Cross country trip with covid?

A group of about 10 bikes just passed on way to L&L meet. The irony of everything around.

    Cross country trip with covid?

The way i see it, anytime stepping outside the house is a risk. If I didn't go on vacation, I could've stayed in TO, gone more grocery shopping, supply shopping, beaches/parks etc and would've came into contact with a lot of people staying local. Riding a bike solo for 10 hours a day doesn't...

    Charlotte and I go West

agreed. This year it is what it is, back in 2015 flew same bike to Vancouver, cause only 1 week vacation, (and rode back through US ) and it was good experience. Not sure I would want to do a ride both ways via Canada again.

    Charlotte and I go West

Not OP but just came back from similar trip. Motels/hotels have staff wearing masks plus big chains have plexi glass installed in counters. Pools are closed. Breakfast is usually prepackaged. I had some lysol wipes I didn't use much. But hand sanitizer I used a lot, especially being out and...

    Cross country trip with covid?

While waiting at Starbucks; favourite roads in BC were obviously 99 and 6 between the ferry (23) and Vernon. I tried the 8 as per suggestion and it was ok but wouldn't do a special trip for it again. Was taking 3/95 back yesterday to Alberta. Avoid taking 1 to Vancouver, just boring. Most...

    Cross country trip with covid?

I got to say this Manitoba covid thing puts a damper if you're not an early morning person. I'm coming back and can only reach eastern border of Saskatchewan today, about 800km, otherwise have to do 1490km day and worried about gas stations open late in those areas. (Also timezones change) Would...

    Cross country trip with covid?

Today did 4 on the island to Tofino. Not bad, more wavy and only sharp turns 60-40km away from Tofino. The whole road is about 200km from Nanaimo. But lots of cars, especially ones who think they can go fast in straight line. Also its $45 each way by ferry, which is sort of expensive to just...

    Cross country trip with covid?

The chain lube was a second can when I would run out. The tire was a bit hopeful in how long it would last.

    Cross country trip with covid?

I had a crazy Saturday. Stopped by Calgary to get can of chain lube. 1 hour later noticed back tire is done, changed it at another shop but it set me back 3-4 hours. Getting back on road and riding to Banff was fine, 3 showers and dry outs. Then came the downpour, close by lightning, winds...

    Cross country trip with covid?

I think I'm battling with the full faced helmet. Right now riding is like being in the Caribbeans speed boat with cool wind rushing in. Except helmet. Touring windshield would really help with keeping visor open.

    Cross country trip with covid?

I'm about to hit the road again. It's only 22 now but 30+ afternoon. I should've left earlier but sleep. Feeling much better. Going to hit Banff, which is only 30 at highest with showers. May be first time showers are very welcomed while riding. Already got 1L of water in me, but not sure how I...

    Cross country trip with covid?

I feel like if I paid enough, and online searched, I can get one FedExd from States. But kijiji is a good idea. It's a small town here (Medicine Hat) but they have a small mall, so I can probably find some Gatorade.

    Cross country trip with covid?

I actually only stopped for an hour. I don't have heated gear and now feel unnecessarily suffering because I don't have a touring windshield. I'm out of luck finding one instock for the fz6. Already called a shop in Calgary. Will buy one for sure.

    Cross country trip with covid?

Today been so far the worst. Left first town in Saskatchewan (18 degrees and cloudy) but by Welcome to Alberta sign had to pull over due to heat exhaustion. Checked the weather, heat warning. First time that it happened so was not expecting it. Cooling off in Timmies at Medicine Hat, and already...

    Cross country trip with covid?

Exhaustion set in at 550km today. Didn't even want to pass a truck going 110. It's ok, there was a speed watching cop sitting top of hill. I'm glad it warmed up cause 9 last overnight...

    Cross country trip with covid?

Well there were some minor glitches, some mean clouds followed me around and rained, but I'm 200km away from thunder bay now, started today. Tomorrow crossing provinces and need to breeze by Manitoba.

    Cross country trip with covid?

He’s not a mammal but thanks. out of curiosity, should I be worried about gas stations availability ? My tank maybe will last 280km. I understand travelling very late may not be an option then.

    Cross country trip with covid?

Lol that's actually pretty funny. I needed the laugh. I only brought it up to say that I'm always preparing for the worst in food options during time away from home. There's slight problems with pet boardings, and work pushing back vacation by a week. It looks like pet boarding here is also...
