URGENT: need a mechanic to inspect a bike this Saturday at Cycle World Superstore!

I didn't have a problem with them selling my old bike or buying my wife's bike. They were fairly decent to deal with. If you have no problems with them so far don't worry too much.

    Rolling back on hills

Definitely keep practicing the brake lever-accelerator roll on. I'd try to use the front brake as opposed to the rear, I'm usually at lights with the front brake engaged. A couple weeks ago I found myself stopped on a steep gravel hill (cottage fire road). In that situation I guarantee you...

The tiller is kind of portly so it being a twin doesn't reduce width. I personally think vtwins with the low down torque are easier to ride. You end up cruising around in the low part of the band rather than having to keep the rpms high. Sort of more relaxing.

    Tl1000r

I heard one go by me years ago. Not sure what exhaust it had but it sounded like a sonic boom. The sound was and is still to this day the best motorcycle sound I've ever heard. I think big v twins sound how bikes should sound... Oh crap I might be in for a HD in my future....

    Rolling back on hills

I don't sit at a light on a hill with just the clutch engaged, that would be stupid. I suggest some practice in finding the friction zone so when you start you don't need to be braking, clutching, and giving gas. What you are describing is called burning a clutch. If you are in the friction...

    older sport bike love

A tl1000r severly underpowered? Seriously? Coming from a ninja 250 and the tiller is underpowered? You know one of those cylinders has like more displacement then you entire bike, I don't think you will notice the lack of power compared to the newer bikes. Consider going for something in...

    helment info for newbie

Safety wise - price doesn't make much differenct. They pretty much are all DOT and/or SNELL. However, comfort, ventilatoin, fit, weight - you get what you pay for. I went from a Shoei RF900 ($350), to a cheaper TZR ($200), then to a really cheap Scorpion exo1000 ($100 online sale). The RF...

    Rolling back on hills

There seems to be an entire generation of riders that have no clutch control or feel for the friction zone. First - my automatic car also has a handbrake. So the person that said Auto Cars don't have hand operated brakes - is dead wrong. Also, when starting in my manual car - on a hill - I...

    Rolling back on hills

If you want to practice getting comfortable finding the friction zone, you can either find a flat parking lot - let the bike idle, let the clutch out slowly in 1st, until you start rolling forward. Do this a couple of times. Then, find a hill - face up the hill. Try to put the bike in the...

Advantages and disadvantages of graduated licensing?

Let's be honest here. Most people driving on the road today don't have the coordination to drive. Forget skill. I'm talking about those really nervous crouched behind the wheel doing 20km under. Those people should never pass. Not only should you pass the test, which should be harder, there...

Which helmet: Shoei RF1100 or Shoei Qwest

What a coincidence. I was just in GP Bikes trying to decide between the RF1100 and the Qwest. I was replacing my EXO1000 Scorpion which I thought I'd try after wearing Shoei for like that last 16 yrs... big mistake. My history. RF???, TZR, Scorpion EXO1000.... Anyway, the sales guy said...

Noob question regarding keeping insurance on you?

I'm fighting the no ownership ticket, but if I had to do it again I wouldn't bother. Not worth the time to sit and kill three hours just to sign up fora court date. I still have to kill another day going to court...

Noob question regarding keeping insurance on you?

Original insurance papers a must - but you get a couple of copies from the insurance company. Ownership photocopy is fine - however, remember to copy both sides, with a copy of the 2nd part of the TAGS updated every year. Don't stick the TAGs on the photocopy - put them on the original...

    Ear Plugs

I find I can wear a set of foam ear plugs for about a month before they start getting not reforming once I squish them down and put them in - I ride everyday, and put them in 2 times a day. In colder weather the foam ones are harder to squish down and have them rebound - so breath on them for a...

    Upgrading from a 125

Carefull when you upgrade to the 650 - weight will be an issue - not only in the garage, but when you stop. Don't know if this happens - but if you ever stop and the front wheel is turned by accident - like turning right, and suddenly stopping - the bike lurches to the left for example. Well...

Rider Down - Me: Steeles & Mississauga (cannot start new threads in fallen rdrs)

Re: Rider Down - Me: Steeles & Mississauga (cannot start new threads in fallen rdrs) Funny you should mention the gym. See what kind of physio you can get - find a good rehab place - and pay - well the insurance company pays - and since the accident is the other guys fault -his insurance...

Re: Rider Down - Me: Steeles & Mississauga (cannot start new threads in fallen rdrs) What a lying sack of s#$#. I hope you can sue him just on the basis being a lying turd. Of course, suing for pain, suffering, lost income etc. is more legit. It still gets me that people don't own up to...

    getting helmets shipped online?

I've bought a helmet from Sportbike Track Gear: http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/StoreFront.bok Great prices, great communication - very well packed when shipped. The helmet box was inside another box with foam. They also let me return it and order a different size when the helmet that...

    SBTG Awesome deals

I highly recommend them. Got my EXO-1000 helmet for $100 + $30 shipping. With the at par dollar it doesn't get any better than that. They even let me exchange it when the first one didn't fit properly - communication was always prompt and very polite.
