    Fire department Bill

It absolutely happens. Check with the town of Caledon for example. Admittely, it is less common where you get a bill when your house burns down, but it does happen. Like auto accidents, they were rare 10 years ago, now it's a rampant billing process. Property matters (like your house...

Fire dept bills for response to traffic accidents are usually a minimum of $800, the city of Toronto and Mississauga are usually a little less, but across the province the average fire dept bill for responding to a traffic accident is about $1200. Contrary to a previous post some municipalities...

    Fire department Bill

Let me pose this question to you. What if a low income citizen can't afford to pay a fire dept charge so they hesitate to call for the fire dept for fear of a large bill. Their hesitation then results in the death of a person that could have been avoided. Is this the system we want in Canada?

You're assessment is absolutley right. These fees are a user fee. But, whether it comes from your tax dollars, or your insurance premium dollars, citizens are still paying the costs.

    Fire department Bill

Does anyone else find it offensive that if I need the fire dept at the scene of an accident I.e. To rescue me I have to pay them for this service? Aren't fire departments funded through taxes etc for this? What next if I have a heart attack while golfing will the fire dept charge me for this...

    Fire department Bill

The mto will pursue recovery from your insurance company if you were at fault for the accident. Your insurer can rightfully challenge the mto if they don't believe the bill should be paid. If the dispute can't be resolved the mto will litigate and your insurance company will defend you.

Requested disclosure, says paced with calibrated speedo, but no calibration report??

I personally won a case on pacing. The officer never calibrated his speedometer. The J.P. agreed with my ascertion that if the officer wanted to use his speedometer as an accurate measure of my speed he needed to prove his speedometer was accurate. No proof, reasonable doubt, case...

Requested disclosure, says paced with calibrated speedo, but no calibration report??

Get a copy of the case Regina Vs. Bland. It's a case on pacing. The officer must show his speedometer was accurate. He should have run his car through a radar or laser operated by another officer to ensure his speedometer matched the laser/radar speed, or at a minimum got another officer to...

    200 000 liability question

To The OP, here's why you don't want $200 000 liabiity. Consider this scenario. You are riding your bike with your daughter, or other loved one on the back. You crash and your daughter is now a quadraplegic. She sues you (your insurance company). Your insurance company pays your daughter...

Can I sue my insurance company?

The police don't determine fault. They hand out charges under the HTA or Criminal Code as it relates to car/motorcycle accidents. (Of course the evidence they used to lay the charge may also be relevant to who is at fault, but the absence of, or existence of a charge, does not equal fault in...

    theft coverage for a gs500?

Keep in mind if you're paying a premium of $100 a year for comprehensive and claim (exlcuding fire) will be subject to a deductible - likely of $300 So in effect if something does happen, in a sense you're already paying $400 of the damages yourself. If you can afford a little claim here and...

For those buying bikes for "$100" declared on bill of sale

I definitely agree here. If a bike is sold to original owner and never sold again the Province gets their tax once. If that bike gets bought and sold 10 more tims in it's life the province gets to collect 10 rounds of PST. The only thing surprising here is that Dalton isn't running TV ads...

Can I sue my insurance company?

You are correct, in the case of your house burning down the fire dept will try and make that claim against your homeowners insurance policy. But you have to ask yourself, don't I already pay for a fire dept to be there in case I need them. Isn't that why I pay taxes? I guess the next step...

Can I sue my insurance company?

A great number of thoughts come to mind on this one. 1) As for the accident, to argue you aren't at fault for this incident is extremely difficult. Sorry if you don't like that but it's a fact. 2) This is a reportable claim to your insurer. Reason being another party suffered damages - The...
