ok - very odd question about brands/labels - bear with me ... a lighter question...

There's a used Kawi jacket for $38 in one of the Kensington vintage stores, green and blue. Unfortunately nothing in mesh or perforated leather (why I went in in the first place). To the OP: forget etiquette. Wear what you like. If it matters to you that the brands don't match, then get a...

    Cheap Bike Jack

Yeah, I had checked princess, and they had lots of good deals for car and transmission jacks but no bike jacks. BINGO!!! Thanks for the suggestion RetroGrouch... not sure why it never occurred to me. I picked up a heavy duty bike jack a guy had from when he worked at a HD dealership... $75!

    Loud pipes save lives

Sarcasm an hyperbole are what make me say they do. I'm sure there are many people with loud pipes that wear full gear too. I was trying to make the point that the broad generalization made in the original post implies a connection between pipe volume and saftey gear, which isn't really...

    Loud pipes save lives

While we're painting the really broad strokes, if the ATGATT crowd is so concerned about their safety, why do they ride on public roads as if they were at the track?

    Cheap Bike Jack

Looking for the best possible price on a jack - any suggestions? Canadian Tire had one on for $80 a few weeks ago, but now the same one is $120. I did an online search and can't find anything, really. I don't need anything professional quality - just for some basic maintenance and repairs...

Pulled Over By Cop For Giving 9-Year-Old Girl A Motorcycle Ride

My dad took me eveywhere on the back of his bike, from as early as I can remember (4 or 5 maybe). All I had for protection was an open face helmet, and whatever clothes I happened to be wearing at the time. My mom bought me a dirtbike when I was 8. Apparantly my parents were heinous human...

:D Suzuki Demo Tour Hit or Miss?

As others have said, it was well organized, and I really appreciate that you set up the registration line in the shade. Same goes for the VStrom650 as the gixxers - another one or two to demo would have been good, I showed up before 9am for that bike, and the earliest I could get a turn was 1pm...

What have you found on the road?

Good timing for this thread - just last Friday I saw an oil filter wrench laying in the middle of the road. I went back and picked it up. Other than some scuff marks from falling off/out of whatever had been carrying it, it is in perfect shape... should make the next oil change a little less of...

    Buying Motorcycle with Credit Card

I guess that's why the smoother merchants offer a discount for cash (as opposed to fee for credit). But that explains why I was able to do it.

Also, you don't need to get a license to walk. At least everyone behind the wheel/handlebars has had to demonstrate some level of competency at least once.

Why would you park like this - not cool!

My understanding is that the <60deg rule is to prevent people from parking at 90deg between two parked cars, effectively boxing them in. I've never heard of nor seen anyone being ticketed for parking at 90deg, but I've been burned on stupid technicalies before, and have no intention of giving...

    Buying Motorcycle with Credit Card

I bought my car in 2001 as one mastercard transaction. Nobody said boo about it. Seems to me that they don't really want the sale if they are going to give you grief over using a CC to pay.

Why would you park like this - not cool!

Agreed, totally. I'm not advocating his parking style, just saying it is legal (even if it reminds me of the muscle car guys who feel the need to take up two parking spaces). I wanted to make the point, though, that what seems to be the customary way of parking a bike in the city, is actually...

Why would you park like this - not cool!

At least it is legal. It bugs me when I see a row of bikes all parked perpendicular to the curb. Not only is it illegal, but your front wheel sticks way out into the part of the lane that people should be driving in. I park at roughly a 45degree angle to the curb. It keeps my bike to the same...

    Helmet designs

Those are neat (especially the one with the butt - you could really be an azzhat!). But I don't think they're real... look like photoshops - though some of them could probably be done.

Actually, this is one of the main reasons I own a bike. My insurance is not more than my car, and with free parking downtown, it is a cheaper commute than even the GO train. As for being more cautious when riding without gear, I've been mulling it over since yesterday, and I think there is one...
