There's Just One Thing Moto Manufacturers Should Do To Get More Riders on Bikes

I looked at lowering my 2018 KTM 1090 this spring. $2000 plus tax or more to have it lowered properly, meaning shock and fork internals, custom length springs and shortened side stand to maintain the stock geometry. I watched a video of a guy who had lowered one and he said it was...

There's Just One Thing Moto Manufacturers Should Do To Get More Riders on Bikes

I agree that the seat heights have crept up quite a bit. Occasionally a manufacturer will offer a low seat on an ADV model, but the arse-up nature of those bikes, combined with comically long travel suspension still means you have to climb up onto it like you were mounting a horse. It seems...

KTM's Parent Company Isn't Doing Hot, Shifting More Production to China and India

"what caused KTM’s downfall was its debt rose from 255 million to 1.7 billion euros between 2023 and the end of October 2024." Good god!! How could ANY honest, intelligent corporate manager allow that to happen? There's got to be massive corruption involved, as those numbers are so far offside.

WOOHOO! Honda brings in a Euro-style tourer

They're also bringing in the 750 Hornet and the 1000SP. I find it a bit odd that they're bringing these 3 models to Canada for 2025 but not the US.

WOOHOO! Honda brings in a Euro-style tourer

I think conventional. I'd be open to the DCT, but not really interested in paying extra for it. I've read criticism elsewhere about the engine being boring in both the AT and this model. I don't put much stock in that as I think it's easy to mistake "refinement" (for lack of a better word) for...

WOOHOO! Honda brings in a Euro-style tourer

Honda is bringing the NT1100 to Canada this year. I worked my fingers to the bone to make this happen by sending one polite email inquiry. I'm sure that was the deciding factor; overwhelming consumer demand. It's not even ridiculously expensive, nor is it a true first year model having been in...

    Interesting break down stories?

Back in the mid nineties I had just got back into off road riding, and was an active member of a club. The club hosted the Lake St. Peter trail ride and I volunteered (actually I was voluntold) to be one of the course sweepers. I was partnered with an experienced expert level rider and we set...

Am I the only one to own (much) more than one set of motorcycle gear?

I still have a well worn Bristol leather jacket that I bought in 1989 when their shop was on Lawrence Ave. I think. It ALMOST fits, so I'm always hopeful but it has yet to leave the upstairs closet.

New Tech vs. Old and repairable for long term? An article from ADV Rider.

This article by Canadian Zac K. 100% expresses what has been on my mind over the last few months. I have been looking for simpler, older bike for a while, one that's more of a daily rider than my Norton could be. I love riding, but am not smitten with any new offerings from any manufacturer...

What happens if KTM goes bust?

The numbers include adv bikes so they are a bit misleading. Plus it's a report from one of those statistic aggregator companies that generate reports where the information provided is nearly useless. I found a report from MC News Australia from 2020 that has the breakdown by manufacturer and...

What happens if KTM goes bust?

You can get Acerbis plastics for 2023 models. I expect availability for 2024 models will start in 2025. Aftermarket plastics aren't available for 2025 models because it's Jan. 6 2025. I believe Acerbis makes the OEM plastics anyway. It's premature to bury the KTM corpse. Their various models...

What product do you always go back to? Or change out every time?

Shoei helmets because they fit my head, my poor relatively empty head. Sidi boots because they fit my painfully flat and worn out feet with my orthotics. And they've remained waterproof for.......more years than I can recall. I've always greased my work boots and continued to do it with my...

KTM's Parent Company Isn't Doing Hot, Shifting More Production to China and India

Nope. It's mine. This past season I FINALLY resolved that my 1090R is actually the perfect modern motorcycle for my needs. With the touring screen it's quiet, and combined with the lowered foot pegs and corbin seat it's full-day comfy. The handling is predictable in every situation, it has...

North American International Motorcycle Supershow - Jan 3-5, 2025

I entered through into hall 1 and was pleased with the variety of vintage bikes. There was 1 or 2 CVMG section, the Ontario Norton Owners, a collection of Zundapp dirt bikes and some other stuff. I thought, "If the rest of the show is as good as this it's definitely recovering." Unfortunately...

KTM's Parent Company Isn't Doing Hot, Shifting More Production to China and India

Someone once said, "At some point complexity in an organization becomes akin to corruption." They were talking about government, but it's appropriate here too.

KTM's Parent Company Isn't Doing Hot, Shifting More Production to China and India

It sounds like Pierer has set up an incredibly bloated and complicated org chart of subsidiaries that rely on each other and probably inflate both the good and bad. A bit of a pyramid scheme it would seem.

    Battery question - I think I dumb'd.

It was this one: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/noco-genius2-smart-battery-charger-maintainer-desulfator-2-amp-6v-12v-0111982p.html Used the Force mode.

    Perfect bike:-Next best thing???

I tend to agree with Adri. There's more to enjoying the ride than the actual road, though it can be one of the reasons. Toolin' along lightly travelled dead strait concession roads that are part of the surveyed grid throughout Ontario on a bright summer day makes for a good ride because of the...

    Battery question - I think I dumb'd.

I completely drained a new LI battery on my Husqvarna 250 by leaving the key on. I bought a(nother) battery charger that was able to force a small charge into the battery then started a normal charge cycle. There doesn't seem to be any ill effects.

    Perfect bike:-Next best thing???

Agreed. I have a number of favorite roads/routes out here around Northumberland County. I've ridden all of them multiple times, though can always take an unfamiliar side road on occasion. A number of assorted places for coffee/snack or lunch, different places to stop and sit and relax. No...
