Need to refine your requirements.....how much importance do you place on corner carving vs tread life (they're "somewhat" mutually exclusive).
Sorry WobblyCat....I somewhat repeated your remarks (I had created my post but didn't send it before stepping out for lunch).
I've made inquiries directly to Shoei regarding a Transitions version of their CW-1 shield (to fit very popular RF-1100 and X-12 helmets). They have been "looking into it", but are unable to announce any production info.
They're now owned and operated by Suzuki of Newmarket. A bit of research will reveal some unflattering things about SON. Whether the same ethics and business practices will follow there, I don't know.
That is a little puzzling. When I had my crash, the appraiser from State Farm came to my house to look at the bike (I wasn't home to talk with him about discovered damage). I had already made arrangements to trailer the bike to Z1 to get my own appraisal done. Z1 made a very thorough examination...
I think the general consensus here is that you cannot get the motor/oil up to the normal on-road operating temperature my merely idling it, regardless of how long you idle it. In theory, condensation burn off would not be as complete as a good road run.
Most of the detailing referred to here deals with paint correction/swirl removal, etc. If I was to pay good money for a detail job on an older/neglected bike, I would want a full fairings-off nitty gritty cleaning of all nooks and crannies, making all of the aluminum look new again (in addition...
Some weird sizes there.....a quick check shows that most tire manufacturers don't offer the same model in those 2 sizes. Might be best to replace with the OE tires, if available.
Personally, I would never go with replacement tires that have lower speed/load ratings. Honda has arrived at these ratings for a reason....a heavy bike like this can generate a very high amount of heat and load on tires.
Can't say I've had anything remotely close to that happen to me there.....been extremely thorough and professional in several visits. Most recently they fixed nearly $5000 of crash damage to a degree that the bike looks and feels like new.
Jamie....it could be argued that, despite the larger size of the Ea15K13 (and there's no disputing the merits of higher oil capacity), it might not have much more filter material than the smaller EaOM filters. The Ea15K filters are "rated" for 15K mile change intervals, whereas the EaO's are...
