Get out there ....Oct 2017 version

Bike is staying put this weekend, plus I got other things I need to do/stop ignoring/procrastinating on. Next weekend looks a lot better though, so fingers crossed it stays warmer and sunny. Not that many good weekends left this year before average temps drop below 10 and they start salting...

    Manufacturer recalls

I would have thought if you could still walk in and buy/order the part, then that means it is available and they could do the recall. If it was a bike from the 70s or 80s I could understand...but a 2003 VFR? Also another question -- Say someone has a bike like the OP that has a never done...

Another Fallen Rider Near Havelock, ON

Blocking position still matters 99% of the time, as the reasoning is if you are there, you are leaving the rest of your lane as the 'oh ****' buffer, that you can use if needed. If you are in the other tire track, you have almost no lane to use should something be headed at you. Centre of lane...

    Fall Colours

I'm thinking with the radial temperature drop off that is supposed to hit, things might start to change quickly over the next few days/week.

    Anyone tried Streetrider.ca? online quote ~$480 cbr600rr

Only ever made 1 claim (no fault, comprehensive due to animal)...was with TD MM and they were really easy to work with. That said, I got much better numbers from Allstate with the bike if I moved everything, so I made the jump. I figure most of the big players should be more or less the...

Changing tires, local bike shop or dealership?

Given what's required to have it done, I'd personally double check chain slack and wheel alignment on the rear, and that all bolts are to spec for front and rear, given what's possible if a shop got it wrong.

Lane Intrusion Accidents & Formation Riding

I'd need to try and visualize the scenario, but if it was a right hand corner on flat land, then if you were to the outside of your lane, you'd be deeper into the corner before you could see anything coming the other way, and would result in a fairly bad line if you needed to make corrections...

Lane Intrusion Accidents & Formation Riding

Personally I try to position myself the best I can in my lane to see through the corner, but ready to use the rest of the lane as a buffer if needed. For a lot of country roads with lots of tree cover that does mean sitting fairly close to centre, but if the corner is completely blind, then...

Friend needs help getting affordable (lol) ins for 600 with M1-M2 class license

There are a few that still insure sportsbikes, but in most cases they'll only do it with full M, and/or beyond a certain age, with a certain amount of riding experience, and likely also bringing over a car. Allstate, Dalton Timmis, and TD MM will insure sportsbikes, however the costs are high...

The Riders Who Won't Wave Back...

Assuming I see the other bike and am in a position to wave (eg. not braking for a traffic jam, light, stop sign etc or starting up from an intersection, on the 400 series or another divided roadway), I'll pretty much wave 100% of the time to anything that isn't an e-bike/looks like an...

Oomis - One of Our Own.

So sorry to hear/read this....Omar, I hope you make as much of a recovery as possible, and my deepest condolences for your wife. Although we can try to mitigate risk as best we can when out on 2 wheels, we can't control the inability of others on the road. It always sends a chill down my spine...

Haven't been on GTAM much the last few months...can someone post a link to what actually happened? Based on what's here, it sounds like one of the worst situations you could be in. Not sure if other's have noticed the same thing, but Dyno Rd seems worse this year compared to last...lots of uneven pavement and potholes. Was far from perfect before, and seems worse now.
  18. conundrum

    Warming tires and throttle control

Sometimes I'll weave a bit before a twisty segment, but it's more just mental and physical prep (and fun) before leaning the bike over...not really anything to do with traction. That said, after riding in any dirt or mud I'll do it to try and shake anything off that might have stuck to the...

    Supersport looking Sport-Tourer?

Surprisingly they don't seem to sell that well here. The CBR650F has been out since 2014...I've owned one since then but haven't ever really seen another on the road, and only know 1 other person with one. The naked CB650F has also been out since 2014 overseas, but I guess we'll finally see it...

    SALE at Royal Distributing

What glove brands do they carry? I really need to get a new pair, but leaning towards either Held, Knox, or Dainese ($250-300 price range hopefully). GP Bikes used to carry a ton, but last time I was there I remember seeing a bunch of "Five" gloves, and not much else.
