Comm's in helmets

I have Sena SMH-10 for over a decade and they have served me well. However, since I rarely need rider-passenger communication (rider to rider even less) I now use these:

They are dirt cheap, fit in my ears and under the helmet without any discomfort and double as pretty decent ear plugs. I play music, answer phone calls, listen to GPS instructions... They are better for listening to music and I use them even when I go shooting. Combine with one of these and Bob's yer uncle:

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but those sleeve buttons force you to reach across with the other hand to use them and the other one does not provide any tactile feedback. I prefer the variants with buttons I can feel mounted on the left handlebar:

Only if you wear it on your forearm... I have mine secured the dash.
The other one... tactile enough. 'Only needs a slight touch to work:)

That slight touch is the problem. Ideally I would want them to have the click I can feel through my gloves and be big enough to feel without looking.

I just bought a pair..they have no right sounding as good as they do. Instructions suck but pretty straight forward to set up ....both my Mac and my iPhone paired easily.
Not sure there is enough volume for riding butt maybe I will have an xmas day ride tomorrow .,,,,will be quiet on the roads.
 
I have been using the Interphone F4 for over 15 years. Aside from swapping the battery (and removed to be put in new helmets along the way), it has been great. The rubber on the wiring is showing some age but it came with multiple wire packs so I had plenty to use. Changing the battery was an ordeal and it took a bit to find the replacement but so glad I did.

Music quality is incredibly good even through hearing protection. The phone quality is great as well. As much as I don't like taking a call on a ride, the caller cannot tell that I am on my bike.

Did I mention it is 15 years old?
 
A lot of money being spent here on comms.

I'm cheap. I have been using the V6 for 3 or 4 years now with no issues. A little bulkier than more expensive models, once it's on my head I don't notice.

Take Calls? Yes. Get freaked out by the stereo separation on Pink Floyd albums? Yes. Scare the bejesus out of you when you forget your wife is riding pillion until she says "HEY, TURN HERE!"? Yes. In fact the only time I've had an issue is when I took a call, on my bike, from a friend using a SENA on his bike, and I couldn't understand a word he said it was breaking up too much on his end. I'm not saying SENA or any other brand isn't good, I'm just saying if you want some bare bones, no frills comms, the V6 is a decent pick.

Looks like they went up a bit on price, they are now around $80.
