Me again...!

I received my cable and usb connector today and now just scratching my head for polarity. Currently on the bike there is a battery tender plug but it's black. The plug I received has the cables in red and black so I can identify which end to plug to which.

However, if I plug the cable end that goes to the battery plug, I can't tell (on the bike) which end would be red and which black. Currently, the bare metal pin is red and the covered end black.

Any insight?
Thanks!

If I understand the question correctly you have something like this:

The negative on the source end will be unshielded (male) the positive is a female socket so you can't accidentally short it out.

pics? competence level? multimeter available?

In theory, the jack on the bike should have positive shrouded and negative exposed. I never trust the last guy though.

i hear ya, although the last guy is a well-known member on here, seemed to be quite knowledgeable, i tend to believe he did this correctly.

I do have a multi-meter (again, as previously mentioned, not sure why... lol) question is, where did i put it last!

Shielded end on the bike side is ALWAYS the positive. If it was the unshielded end everytime it bounced around when there was no tender plugged in and the terminal touched anything metallic on the bike...you'd be popping fuses or melting wires.
