The oil kept changing, it was fine, then dropped below the lines, then went back to fine. I added 500 ml to get the oil level from the lower part of the lines to the upper, and this seemed to fix my smoking problem and the ticking went away. What your saying sounds right, that a 500 ml deficit...

Thanks for all the responses, but I figured the smoke/oil issue out. Turns out when you remove the oil pan you need about 500 ml more oil than a regular oil change, which is why the white smoke was coming out of the exhaust. The smoke coming out of the front was excess oil, etc, which heated up...

I only removed the bolts holding the radiator in place. I didn't touch any mechanical parts or hoses, just enough to give me some wiggle room to remove the exhaust, so I dont think that the radiator has anything to do with it. Would it be possible that the thick white smoke is a result of there not being enough oil? Regardless, filling the oil up to appropriate levels seems to be the next course of action.

Yes, I double checked all connections and looked at it when the bike was running, the smoke seems to be coming from below the exhaust, its not loose nuts and everything is in place.

Ok new developments. When I turn the bike on the oil level drops, then about two minutes later the exhaust and the front end start smoking, there is also a ticking sound in the engine. When I turn the bike off the oil level returns to where it was.

I started it again and really heavy white smoke is coming out of the front end and the exhaust as well. I double checked the exhaust pipes and they are all secure, but what it looks like to me is that there is no oil, even though I just filled it up with a brand new 3.6 litres.
