hey reviving an old thread here. I'm having exactly the same issue at the OP here. Exact same bike stands, except I'm trying to get my 2008CBR600RR front on the stand and it just wont work. Previous owner had 2 random screws in, it won't reach the holes in the bottom of the forks and is at such...

Everywhere I have read says it's not possible, and that they can only look to see if you have a valid insurance slip. I just need a trip permit without the hassle of doing a month insurance. FYI I'm not trying to generally ride without insurance here, in case you're replying with inaccurate...

I've heard that if you take out insurance and then cancel the policy shortly after, but still have a slip saying its valid.. it's impossible for a police officer to verify that policy number is active or not? Because they simply don't have the technology or resources to do so. Is this correct...

And if I get pulled over? Any problems? It would save me a lot of hassle if I can just give my car policy number, because I'm leaving country and putting bike back into storage anyways. Just want to get a couple of things done to it before I leave, while under a trip permit.

Just wondering can you get this trip permit with your existing car insurance information or do you need to start an insurance plan directly for the bike you want to put the trip permit on??
