I agree with a 4 stroke for SM use. Recip covers it clearly in his simple description.
I would suggest you figure out what you plan on doing with the bike if you don't like the SM experience (can't see that happening though but just in case) If you plan on using the bike for MX or trails anyway...
Thanks for the interest here. I'm sure Jerrett and crew have a look and see what the chat is about, that said I can only answer general questions from my experience in the sport, if you have a particular question or comment go ahead and ask here, they'll probably jump in when they get a chance...
Use either as clamca noted. A lot of the riders use MX gear with plenty of good protection under the shirt and pants - if you fall on pavement usually a fabric shirt won't last to the abrasion, thats where your protective gear comes in. A leather suit offers the best protection against abrasion...
If Shannpnville is out for racing SM in 2012 this could be a good thing for the club. Its not about a structured race environment at this point anyway, maybe Jerrett and his crew will offer more dates for SM riders to have some fun - only they will say for sure, looking forward to their official...
If you haven't had them done by this time - check out Motorcycle City in Richmond Hill. John is a long time professional and a former sidecar racer, he takes his time and is familiar with almost all things motorcycle. If there is an issue before he starts he will tell you also if something...
Thanks Jerrett for coming on board and introducing yourself, I'm sure with the site updates and a few notes posted here we all should be able to stay in the loop. Thanks for the effort putting this together.
Recip takes it to another level with the tire discription-thanks for that, on that...
No worries MXS, think of it though - most SM racers use full slicks in the dirt ! yes they have experience, however, they had to start somewhere too. Actually a treaded street tire might give you a slight traction advantage simply because it will bit the soil a bit better. Have you ridden on a...
MXS is correct yeah I count 4 seasons in a year. NOTEING a season and a half - therefore more than 1 full year, once operational in 2012 it will be great.
There is a TON of hard work going into this, be nice please. You can always go to the web site and follow the updates and wait for the...
This is a group of current Ontario Supermoto riders who are regulars in the series for the past 3-4 years. Like many of us wanting to improve the scene, they took the effort to build this venue for next season, the track design is being drawn out before they break soil so i bet it will be great...
I've been to the location prior to this news for a "pit stop", I live near Yonge and 401 - it takes about an hour 20 plus-minus (traffic, go figure...lol) the exit is right there to the place, by the looks of the pictures on their site it will match or be larger than Hershey - if any of you...
I just wanted to mention a new web site to watch over the winter months, have a look at supermotoontario.com
This is a bunch of dedicated supermoto riders working together building a Club and to create a specific location to ride your SM bikes without travelling hours across the Province. It is...
As usual a bit late to chim in but...
Have a look at Husky SMR449 or 511, pretty cheap for what you get, power up kit is required and usually comes with the bike anyway, not a ton in aftermarket yet, but plenty fast anyway for what you are intending. I have a friend/racer who runs a 511...
OK, so here's the deal - there is none.
Due to the small interest in this option, which i have posted in a few locations, combined there is just not enough people interested to do this, therefore I will consider this post closed.
The small number of interested riders for this option does not...
