    Anyone have a 2000-2024 S1000R - dynamic suspension question.

I have a 2018. I can hold the suspension button down while riding to change from 1 helmet to 2 helmets. I don't need to be stopped. Not sure if that helps with your question.

    Lube new clutch cable?

    Yep. It's an OEM cable.

    Lube new clutch cable?

Yeah, I fitted the new cable last night and adjusted the slack out (mostly) from the clutch side. The new cable does feel....smoother/fluid.

    Lube new clutch cable?

The new cable arrived. I measured the old and the new, and the old one had only stretched about 3-4mm. Nothing crazy. You guys were spot on about the unlikeliness of the cable stretching. Since I have the new cable I'll swap it out anyway 🤷‍♂️

    Lube new clutch cable?

Thank you all for the feedback. Still waiting for the OEM cable to arrive and will compare them side by side to see if there's any visible stretch. @Lightcycle that's 0.5mm with a cold engine. The slack (free play) increases as the engine reaches operating temperature. It's the strangest thing...

    Lube new clutch cable?

My clutch cable seems to have stretched a bit. Well, maybe more than a bit. I first noticed it around 10k and have finally decided to do something about it (at 15k). I was not able to eliminate enough slack with the adjuster on the clutch lever. BMW recommend 0.5mm of slack on a cold engine. In...

    Fork pinch bolt torque setting

@Hardwrkr13 are you referring to the spacers in the image below? If so, yes. My '18 model comes with it. I did consider HVMP/Rhinomoto bar ends but figured I already had enough weight at the ends of the bars. The stock bar end (with the bolt) comes to 250grams each side. The aftermarket bar...

    Fork pinch bolt torque setting

Tires were replaced in June - no cupping and balanced properly. I confirmed balance with my static balancer. The vibrations are not based on travel speed. It's 100% engine vibration. I can reproduce buzzy/blurry mirrors in neutral.

    Fork pinch bolt torque setting

It's possible, though I did also try it with one of those digital torque adapters. I used a dummy bolt set to 12Nm with my torque wrench until it clicked. I then set the digital torque adapter to 12Nm and tried tightening the same bolt - got the beep at just over 12Nm. I assumed that meant it...

    Fork pinch bolt torque setting

Perhaps I was spoiled with my previous bikes? My previous 4 cyl bikes did have slightly buzzy handlebars but mirrors were fine. My Street Triple was crystal clear throughout the entire rev range. The vibrations on the S1K are caused from the engine speed, not travel speed. I can make the...

    Fork pinch bolt torque setting

In an effort to reduce the handlebar vibrations, and in turn mirrors that are blurry at rpms above 6k rpm, I thought it might be a good idea to retorque all the bolts according to the manual. I even loosened the engine frame bolts and let it "rest" overnight. All was fine until I got to the...

    Oil performance degrading after 1,500km?

Quick update on this. I've now hit 1,500km again since changing the oil, and while I haven't checked the colour of the oil in the bike yet, I've observed a few things: I've actively tried to avoid being stuck in traffic and haven't really experienced "notchy" shifting When I do get stuck in...

    Oil performance degrading after 1,500km?

Quick update: Thank you @GreyGhost! I removed the radiator guard (but left the oil cooler guard for now) and the bike is in fact running cooler! I did a short test riding around city streets hitting some traffic, some 30 zones, traffic lights etc. The temperature did not exceed 102C...

    Oil performance degrading after 1,500km?

Okay. I'm going to give this a go. I'll remove both guards and see if it makes a difference. I'm willing to keep it off even if it's a slight improvement. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Oil performance degrading after 1,500km?

I have both. It was fitted by the previous owner/GP bikes. I did consider removing both but worried about rocks kicking up and damaging the oil cooler/rad. I'm not really sure what this means, but is there anything I can do to improve its function? I suppose this could be why brentune flash...
