I was still significantly above the speed limit. He was close enough on my bumper I did not brake check him, or he would have been in my back seat.

Reviving a very old thread...... I was the OP on this. I am older (retired) and maybe a bit wiser...... jury is out on that one. Anyway, I still think about this incident 10 years on, especially when I still see how some riders drive. I also wonder if the person who "mirrored" me is still...

I'm glad you have been an upstanding member and you have raised some valid points. I never called you a troll until this last post, but you seemed to call me one back in post #119....why do you get to call me a troll because I disagree with your thoughts?

You misunderstand by my "standing by how I pulled out".... as far as I was concerned, I was clear to pull out, seeing as the biker was a long way back, so it was safe to go into the left lane to pass. It is THAT action I stand by. I do "own" the slowing down, and I do believe I apologized for...

In your example above, I would either not have been pulling out to pass because the biker would have been to close for me to safely do so, or I would have pulled out to pass because I had clearance and been passed the truck because our speeds were too close (he wouldn't have caught up to me)...

I wasn't planning on doing anymore posting, but this one can partly explain things. When I look in my rear view mirror, I don't stare in it.... it is so to speak a "snapshot". Most people will use their mirrors in that fashion, just a glance and I am clear or not clear. The biker was far...

I love the assumptions you make: First, the biker was way back when I chose to go into the left lane..... the FACT that he was going exceedingly fast was not evident until he was on my butt a short time later. If he had even been going only slightly faster then I was, I would have been passed...

Sorry you feel that way.... I don't "camp" in the left lane and I was legit passing at a reasonable rate and then getting out of the way. It actually speaks to how fast the biker was going that he was on my tail that quickly. At least now I have a good reason for not using the passenger side...
