This something William Shatner could do on weird or what? (well not really)

Some lights use weight triggered sensors rather than magnetic pick-ups. You can't do anything about those ones. I just make a right turn, find my way around and avoid the intersection from that point on.

Durham Region (New Rider/M1 Friendly) Sunday July 29th

Lol, yeah sorry again, I was late. Arrived at 10:30. Only four riders this time and all from Toronto/Scarborough. Where are my Durham riders at??? Regardless, glad to have the group along. Great ride without incident. Next time I'll be sure to stop for the lemonaid and peaches. conundrum...

i got a nail in my tire.

Just plug it and be on your way. Check your pressures often to make sure the plug is sealing. Since you asked about knowing how much air you need, while you're buying the kit get a tire pressure guage, they're in the same section at Canadian Tire. I plugged the tire on my bike but it was from...

New tire is on, no problems at the speed I take this ride at, good to go. Last bump before the ride tomorrow.

    M1 switch to m2!

This isn't helpful to you, but for any other new riders reading this. You can do your M2 exit course at any time after you get your M1, even the next day. You will get your graduation papers from the course, but you will have had to wait until 60 days after you got the M1 to go to the ministry...

    Crusing RPM? Downshifting vs. braking?

Vehicles are generally tuned to run the most efficiently at around 80-90km/h. You should cruise at as low an RPM as possible without the bike lugging and should be able to accelerate slowly in that gear, downshifting when a faster acceleration is required. I downshift in all of my vehicles and...

Durham Region (New Rider/M1 Friendly) Sunday July 29th

I'm still surprised by the people who ride out of the Toronto area on the local roads. Getting a new rear tire tomorrow to replace the leaky plug I'm dealing with now. I will not get screwed on my own ride again. Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.

I'm leading a ride out of Oshawa to Port Hope this Sunday. Wrong day but look up my new rider friendly ride in the main rides section.

    Cheap Ebay Replacement Mirrors

There is no gap between the mirror and housing like on a car. The mirror is mounted directly to the housing. Unless you are referring to the mirror shaft and the mounting pivot.

    Have you dropped your bike?

Three times, three different bikes all in my driveway at 0km/h and never when I was actually riding. Knocked one off when I was washing, another when I moved it around and the last putting it in the garage. I cried a little each time, especially on the last one.

Durham Region (New Rider/M1 Friendly) Sunday July 29th

I have taken several new riders on this trip on two separate occasions. In total I have had six first time gravel riders comment that gravel was much easier than they expected and several mentioned that they were happy that their first time on gravel was in a group. That section is a very nice...

    i'm almost new

Your gear is all estimated high, especially for first time outfitting, which isn't bad as far as planning goes. Coming in under budget is always nice. Insurance is high, assuming that's a quote and not your personal estimate. Kawithumb mentioned getting an older bike. It's a good idea, it's...
