Dual-Sport and 'Adventure' Riding course recommendations

My buddy and I are booked for a full day course on May 11. I ride an F800GS so I wanted to do the half day on the small dirt bike to get the fundamentals and then 2 hrs with the F650GS. Info can be found here. Before I found the BMW courses, we were going to book the Dual Sport Motorcycle Rider...

    Weekend Warrior (Downtown Toronto)

You're right. I started looking through the ADVrider thread and looks like it's time for my to change out the 3-4 year old stock batteries. Fortunately the weather this week means I won't be missing out on too much riding. Hopefully get back on the saddle on by the weekend.

Won't make it tonight. Couldn't start the bike probably due to low battery. Guess a few days on the battery tender and yesterday's ride wasn't enough to charge it up.

    Weekend Warrior (Downtown Toronto)

Good idea. I'll aim for that around 8:30pm and hope to meet a few GTAM members and grab a coffee. My beemer is still a little banged up from the Trans-Lab highway but the heated grips work well!

Anyone riding around tonight? I'm in the Bay & College area and was thinking of going for a spin at around 8PM.

Importing a Motor Vehicle To Canada (the be all end all)

This is incorrect for BMW. There is no online VIN# check that provides information on whether all recalls have been completed. I called BMW NA (USA), the previous owner's dealership (he called him too for different types of documents that would satisfy RIV's requirements but they said no) and...

Importing a Motor Vehicle To Canada (the be all end all)

Even more issues. I've brought the bike back and have made appointment to BMW Toronto next Friday to do an inspection and get the Recall Clearance letter for Form 2. I tried getting getting a temporary/special permit from MTO - Service Ontario today and they said I needed two stamps on my Form...

Importing a Motor Vehicle To Canada (the be all end all)

Since Friday is a holiday, this will be a two day rental and not even including fuel/insurance (trucks/vans are considered commercial and not covered by credit card car rental insurance) the cargo van would be around $292. I'm also not sure if the bike (length: 91.3", height: 53.1", width...

Importing a Motor Vehicle To Canada (the be all end all)

Wow this is becoming quite a hassle. TD/Primmum have responded today and said they would not insure without title and Form 1 (i.e. it needs to be imported first, no insurance coverage in-transit). I've been looking at trucks and trailers to rent but they will all be expensive since I do...

Importing a Motor Vehicle To Canada (the be all end all)

I live downtown and do not own a car. The broker also said JEVCO would not extend. State Farm also wouldn't but Rider Plus and Primmum would. Rider Plus quoted $600 above Primmum and both would cover the 2 weeks until I register. Awaiting confirmation from Primmum before proceeding and getting...

Importing a Motor Vehicle To Canada (the be all end all)

I'm in the process of importing a used 2010 BMW F800GS from Rochester (pick-up scheduled for this Friday). I've read this forum and the one on advrider.com but I'm struggling with insurance. From my understanding of most people's experience, they called up their insurance company and told them...

Bike Friendly Ontario Insurance People [2008 edition!]

Bike Friendly Ontario Insurance People [2008 edition!]

Called Sabrina and Paula from State Farm, they were very helpful but State Farm sucks if you're a under-25 new rider without a car. 2001 Kawasaki Ninja 500 200k Basic Coverage: $2228 500k Basic Coverage: $2590 1M Basic Coverage: $2869 It doesn't matter that I'll be needing home insurance since...
