The Walpole island ferry is great, inexpensive and a quick ride across. You do have to sit on your motorcycle while going across, just because the ferry is small and any kind of chop does sway the boat itself, aside from that you have no worries, the ferry runs until 10pm. As for the sombra...

What I usually do, I walk into a dealership, tell them what tire I want, I bounce the hell out of it in the store, roll it, hit a few bikes, do a drag test and go from there.

Save your money, hit it with some rustoleum paint, and call it a day. When it chips or fades just spray it again, you'll have a fresh paint job every couple of weeks. Guy gour ride with will want to know if you can paint their bikes too.
