When I had a R3, it came with oe bias-ply Michelins that were glorified hockey pucks. Basically any new tires were better. Can confirm sports touring tires are fine with "spirited" riding (depends on your own definition). I like that sport tourers have decent wet/cold grip and last me 20-25k a set.
