Please help me figure this out - $465 Bill from MTO

Like I said in my initial post, I didn't create this thread to bash the fire department or how to "not pay" or "circumvent" this. I am only asking what's the best way to figure this situation out from the point of view of those who may have been in similar situation as me. This might help future...

Please help me figure this out - $465 Bill from MTO

I live in Scarborough (Eglinton and VP). I was coming back from GP Bikes in Whitby getting on the 401W near Brock Street and Consumers Dr. The reason I didn't let my insurance know about the accident is precisely because I wanted to keep my record clean so I don't have to pay higher insurance...

Please help me figure this out - $465 Bill from MTO

Hi guys, I had a quick question about a letter that I received today. I crashed my bike on October 1st, 2013. There were no other vehicles involved as I ran into the curb getting on to the 401 ramp. You can quickly glance over the details here if you like. I called 911 and was taken to the...

First Bike Crash - Advice Required

I've read all the comments and thank you so much for the support I've been provided here. For those who are arbitrarily assuming that I crashed because I wasn't wearing proper gear or that just because I'm riding an older bike are patently mistaken. I in fact was wearing riding gloves, jacket...

First Bike Crash - Advice Required

I don't know how to describe my feelings at the moment, except to say thank-you which I know doesn't go far enough in describing how I truly feel. You guys especially have treated me like a family member and for that I once again can't thank you all enough! I will be picking up the bike in the...

First Bike Crash - Advice Required

Ok I was just about to head out and give him the $200 and retrieve my bike and go on the $25 plan that Nicco from Quinn's towing talked about. But after reading MLadin's post maybe I will wait and see if I can only pay $200 and get it back. A pm is on it's way. Yeah guys, I don't mean to come...

First Bike Crash - Advice Required

I guess he's just trying to make his money. I actually found it really disappointing how he could say to sign the ownership over to him just like that to avoid the arbitrary $575 towing fee.

First Bike Crash - Advice Required

UPDATE: Okay I just spoke with Nicco from Quinn's Towing. Essentially, he said either I sign the ownership of the bike over to him or he can put me on a payment plan for $375. He'd require $200 in cash and then $25 every week until I've paid it off. I told him that the most I can pay him is $200...

I think he is. I'm waiting for him to call me back. The bike does mean a lot to me, and I've learned a lot in these past couple days - including how to type with one hand:p.

I just spoke with him, his name is Joe. He sounded look a nice person. He said he's going to speak with the driver who towed and he'll call me back and see what he can do. I don't want to sound threatening by telling him his name is on the line on gtam. Thank-you guys for your replies so far...

First Bike Crash - Advice Required

I didn't decline 3rd party insurance. My bike and I are both insured by statefarm. All the tows I called weren't in the area, so OPP called the tow by themselves. I had no say in who picks it up.

First Bike Crash - Advice Required

Yeah, but I wasn't feeling like I would be able to get back on the bike as I was extremely disoriented and dizzy and there were cars coming from behind on the ramp. At one point I felt like I was going to fall unconscious which is when I fully decided to call the ambulance

Yeah they are not going any less than $500. I am going to find out if I don't retrieve the bike would they take me to court or go to collections.
